I pulled this quilt top as the next to baste for ditch quilting. I looked through my batiks for a possible backing.
My lucky day! I found a large enough piece of the same fabric as the outer row of squares. If I'm really careful, maybe I can get the binding out of it too. Maybe.....
I have been pressing my purple Kaffe collective fabrics, preparing to cut pieces for the Rosy quilt. This batch is potentially the large plain squares and possible some would be used in 9 patches too.
This group would be for the 9 patches.
The only reason I haven't cut anything yet is indecision whether I'll cut 2" or 3" finished squares for the 9 patches. The ones in Kaffe's books used 3" and I used 2" when I made my green Rosy.
These are possibilities for the 9 patches too. I'm not sure about the one with red in it or the one with turquoise in it. In the green Rosy quilt I did have some pops of red and pink so I'm not ruling these out yet.

Lucky day indeed! I always dither, I mean contemplate, on fabrics that provide the pop of color as they can make or break a quilt.
Those purple KF fabrics are soooo pretty, Wanda!! And isn't it great to find just the right backing in your stash?:))) Lucky day indeed.
54 here this morning and partially sunny.
The leaves on our trees are looking pretty dried out and sad--I wonder if we will get any Fall colors at all...
Hugs, Julierose
In finding that large piece of the same fabric in that wonderful quilt, you really did find treasure!!! What joy!
Love the fabrics in your photos and I'd say cut 3" to make best use of the small fabrics. Also, your quilt will be a bit larger, of course. Wink!
It's already 70*F here, but our high will be only 78*F. Tonight, 57*F. Nice!
Hugs!
What a glorious piece for the backing and lets hope binding too. Your collection of purples takes my breath away. SOoooo pretty. Lovely post today Wanda.
I like the colors in the quilt and the backing!
You have some gorgeous purples in these photos!
That is great you found a big enough piece for the backing! Those purples are beautiful! My favorite is the one with the circles.
