Nothing new............

It was errand day which included grocery shopping yesterday.  When I got home I noticed a new flower in the front flower bed.  This is another volunteer plant and has just the one bloom.

Behind it is another plant with similar flowers.

This is the third volunteer plant, all grown from seeds from one plant last year.  These look more like coneflowers.  I tried to identify it back when the first plant bloomed and Gloriosa Daisy was one of the options.  They are from the Rudbeckia family.  I have more volunteer plants that haven't bloomed yet and I think some of them are Black-eyed Susan.

I showed these blocks a while back and the have been sitting in a pile ever since.  By mistake I grabbed the die for finished 2.5" triangles when I meant to cut 2" finished size.

I decided to just play with them last night since I didn't have the ambition to do anything else.

I have the option of cutting 5" finished squares to use with them, and cutting more of this size triangle.  For now they will go back in a pile.

Always decisions, right? Well, i guess that is the fun of putting spare parts together for a quilt;))) I do like them going all the same direction; I recently saw a vintage quilt on Cathy's "Sane and Crazy blog that uses just a ton of those and it is so pretty.
57 here this morning with the sun peeking over our hill...settling those gorgeous fabrics into my stash today...;)))
hugs and thanks, Julierose

Your triangle square blocks are lovely colors. They will make a gorgeous quilt when you finalize your decisions. I can't believe you are getting blooms from new plants this time of year.

FWIW I like the arrangement in the first photo! The flower is beautiful. Got a few sprinkles overnight but not enough to make a difference.

The flower is Gallardia, aka blanket flower. They may reseed for next year.

I enjoyed your playing with your stash of precuts and your volunteer blossoms have such wonderful colorful autumn effect.

always like those flowers with the darker centers to off set the yellow. I guess today I will look through the flannel I have for the next block and maybe seeing as it is cooler today go outside for a little bit too - it is actually in the 70's today so that is nice.

Free flowers are the best! Mostly the only plants blooming in my gardens are the California poppies. I watered on Saturday and did see couple new coneflower blooms, but that is about it as far as color in my gardens.
