Counting pieces...................

There wasn't time yesterday to sew on any project so I counted pieces of flannel, both pieced and cut.  This pile is 35 flannel 16 patches.  I need to make 28 more blocks for a decent throw size quilt, or mix these with some of the pieces in the following photos.

There were several boxes of cut pieces.  In this one there are 53 of the 4.5" x 8.5" rectangles, 45 of the 4.5" squares, and I didn't count the strips since there are only a few of them.

A lot of my flannel quilts have been made with several different shape pieces so these may end up in a quilt with some tumbler shapes.

This box has 14 six inch tumblers and 221 four inch tumblers.

Also in that box were 6 strips of 6 four inch tumblers.  These were leftovers from a baby quilt I made a couple years ago.  These strips are just laying next to each other, not sewn together as a chunk.

In this box there were 5 nine inch tumblers and 84 three inch tumblers.  I have made quilts with more than one size of tumblers.  Here is one of them.

I have made a couple of baby quilt with the 3" flannel tumblers.  This one is the largest.  I sewed the tumblers together after I had my first pacemaker surgery.

These 3 boxes are on a top shelf in my main floor studio.

I won't show you all of the flannel yardage on the shelf unit in the basement.

I think I need to start sewing my flannel quilts in October.  I also have one top already pieced waiting for quilting.  My flannel quilts are the first ones chosen when I give people a choice so I definitely need to finish some this year.

I have a quilt waiting for binding so that is today's task.  I think it will be all by machine so maybe I'll have a finish soon.

Oh flannel quilt sewing is a perfect choice for October's quilts, Wanda!:))) I love that multi-sized tumbler quilt you made; and i like the 16 patch blocks with that lovely solid alternating cocoa color--so yummy!! Looking forward to seeing more flannel works...
59 degrees here this morning as I stepped out on my back deck to check how the day felt...cool with just a hint of Summertime warmth in the air...
I hope your weekend is a good one...

Hope the wedding goes well and you enjoy lots of family time today. I, like Julierose, love the quilt with two sizes of tumblers. We be interesting to see what fall quilts you make from your parts.

I can envision rows of tumblers alternating with strips. Hmm. Larger tumblers pieced in four-patches or smaller tumblers pieced in nine-patches, trimmed to make them square, than framed by strips......

when I get done with the flannel quilt I am working on right now I will be almost done with all my flannel - I'm betting I will still have pieces left over

You have a good assortment of flannels to get you started. We missed out on the rain chances this week, but our highs have dropped to the low 90s.

Thanks for the links to the two marvelous flannel quilts you made. Don't they just look so very cozy? Your bins of cut flannels open all sorts of possibilities for your new flannel quilts. Have fun.
I need to finish up a couple of projects and dig into my wonderful flannel yardage.
Today it's pouring with rain, rain, and more rain and is nearly as dark as late evening. Love it!

Hugs!

I don't even want to think about counting how many 9 patch flannel blocks that are sewn and how many need to be sewn! I think the hard reality of those numbers would freak me out! LOL!!
