new book...........

This new book from C&T publishing has 13 quilt patterns that have been in other books by some talented designers.  I own a couple of the books but the rest were new to me.  I like the cover quilt but not in that color combination.  I'm always drawn to patterns that have a checkerboard look to them.
This is my favorite quilt in the book.  I know I am influenced by the colors used (yellow is my favorite color) and also the fabric choices (my favorite Martha Negley fabric, tree rings).  This one uses Drunkard's Path shapes also, another love.  There is an alternate color choice in the book too with large prints in the area where this one has applique.  This pattern originally was published in "Maverick Quilts" by Alethea Ballard.  I'm looking for my Drunkard's Path templates to see if I can use them instead of the templates in the book.
I'm still cutting big flowers for my Seed Packet quilt.  This one is a Kaffe print and this is the before photo.

This is the after photo, with 3 blocks cut from it.  I will cut up the rest into squares and triangles for a scrappy quilt.

Seeing your rotary cutter on the fabric lets me see how big those flowers are, then I zoomed in on the bottom photo and counted the inch squares. I love the combination of purple blue flowers. The 'flowered dishes' pattern looks like something you have sewn before, using different elements.
I've still got the odd plant in bloom but a heavy down-pour of rain is expected over the next 12 hours, so that may be the end of them. Somme flooding is expected across some areas of the north east of England but hopefully we'll not be needing a boat :p

The flowered dishes are a creative use of drunkard's path. I own the 3 1/2" studio die and have the 7" go die in the cart, but am choking on spending the $40 for the adaptor to run it in the studio.

I can see you making that first quilt but with "your" colors and it will look totally different than the one shown - it will be totally you!

Your before photo of KF fabric has a corner of another fabric at the top and it looks like overflow from photo above it. Lovely colors.
Like Lesley, above, I thought the Flowered Dishes was a little like your recent Kathy Doughty quilt but the Drunkards Path gives quite a different look.

Love the "Flowered Dishes" quilt....I have the Martha Negley tree rings fabric, in blue....I bought several yards of it , but I wish I had gotten more because I am using it up too quickly...it is finding its way into more projects than I had thought it would....I also wish I had bought some in the other color(s) as well..... I need to check to see if it might still be available, but I am pretty sure it isn't.....
Looking forward to seeing the quilts you make from your new book!

Flowered dishes pattern is the bomb! I don't think I have quite the skills to tackle something like that yet though.

OUr internet has been down for a couple of days so it's good to catch up on posts, but why did you show us this wonderful book!!!! The Flowered Dishes is just a beauty. I wonder if they have this in our book store in Wellington, perhaps I should find out.
I love using KF fabrics for fussy cutting, people have said they feel it's just a waste of fabric, all the odd pieces left over but as you say they are so easily used elsewhere.
