Cutting squares..........

When I got home from Thanksgiving dinner I cut the binding for the pink 16 patch quilt but I didn't want to work on it.  I decided to cut some more big flower prints and move the squares all over to the double design wall.  There will be 2 rows of small squares around it so I have a lot of cutting to do.  If I finished it at this many blocks plus the 2 borders it would finish at 60" x 82.5".  I could add one more row across and it would be 67.5" x 82.5".  I have the option of replacing some of the big squares to get a better balance of light/medium/dark too.  I don't want to rush it and the art quilters are coming Monday so I have major clean up to do.  There is something on every table in the basement.
I am a list maker and I love pens and paper.  At the beginning of the year I list all of the quilt tops that are finished and divide them into 3 groups, small-up to 66" on the longest side, medium-67" to 79" on the longest side and large, 80" or longer on the longest side.  The list shown here is the small size and it is my largest group at 18 (9 medium and 15 large).  I mark when I finish a piece in red and when I sell a piece in green.  I thought I had 40 to finish but there were a couple new tops that weren't on the list so I have 42 to finish or sell.  I added over 20 tops to the lists during the year and also finished some of them.  Since Jan. 1 I have finished 17 and sold 6 that were on the list.   I think I started the year with 49 tops and now have 42 so that is progress.  Now I need to count the in progress pieces.

I'm getting ready to go through my 'stash' and recheck my list of WIP. My goal for 2017 - completion!

I like lists too. I have a prayer list and it's amazing to read after prayers are answered. Of course, sometimes the answer is NO.

Well, the quilt is about big prints, so I would make it bigger! Looks terrific now. I do make a sort of list of my quilts, but could use it to be a bit stronger. Guess I will go back and see what I can do.

I love your organization and your lists. You are inspiring me to get underway and work on being a little organized, especially as my studio is overwhelmingly full. OK--today I will start by buying a couple notebooks-feeling better already :)

I am so impressed with your lists. I have never been a list maker myself. I would say you have made significant progress this year.

Your seed packet is looking beautiful! Like your idea of splitting the quilt tops, easy to keep track of. I think I see a 20" x 20" colourwash batik on your list - perhaps someone will be quilting in December!

What a fun trip scrolling back through your last 6 posts. Color wash, Seed Packet, Triangles, Use Your Yardage Quilting book, I would like that leaf vacuum for our yard (*,_,*), Red & Purple piece, gorgeous I may say, And then their was the Lucious Pink quilt, and todays Seed Packet with the smaller blossoms, which is going to be glorious .

I know I missed some, but what a grand array of posts, always a treat to come and visit it.

Lists are one of my favorites, too -- clearly I am not alone! I used different colors of ink at my law firm desk because no one wanted to "borrow" a pink or purple or green pen. And I really do like the way you make tops because you want to make them and then worry about the quilting/finishing later.

Just curious (and in love).....are you going to want to sell the seed packet (flowers) top when you finish it, or see it through the quilting. And how much would you charge for the top if you did want to sell it? Probably out of my budget, but WOW it would be a treasure to finish and own !

The seed packet quilt is just gorgeous, I'm waiting patiently to see how it all comes together. A simple idea, but so effective. Of course, one needs a huge stash like yours!
