Another 2 hours of tweaking.........

This is the almost final layout.  After I took this photo I changed one piece.  If you look in the 5th horizontal row, piece 3 and piece 5 are the same.  I just exchanged 5 and 6 to move them a little farther apart.  The other half of the quilt is going to be identical to this since I have 4 blocks alike of every combination.  I am making stacks for the second half and will sew that one first, then I'll sew the one on the design wall and one will get turned 180 degrees and they will be sewn together.  This will reverse the pieces on the joining seam so I'm hoping it will look great.  If you want to see the other variations go back to yesterday and the day before.  The change from yesterday: I darkened the zig zag border corner pieces and tried to match colors somewhat.  This gave me the lighter pieces to put in the diamonds for the sparkle (or shimmer).

I really like the changes! The lighter diamonds in rows four and five are balanced now with the rest and the darker outer border provides a lovely frame.

Coming along nicely now - I like how when I look at the middle I can see 3 diamond type shapes - very nice shading. We still have sunshine; just nice and warm. I love the Olympics so will be watching a lot of that over the next 2 weeks. Enjoy your weekend :)

I think this one is going to be striking in the design complexity, once the 2 halves are combined.... looking forward to seeing the whole thing!

I like it.
I put it in Photoshop and cloned the image, rotated the second copy so that I could see the final version. Don't sew the bottom row until I send it to you.

This one is so beautiful now, but I'm wondering what Gene's photo shopped picture is looking like as he wanted you to wait. OH, the mystery....

I like the light/dark effect, especially on the diamonds and the border. Waiting to see the entire piece.

I'm loving this one!! Isn't it funny how you can miss identical pieces and then see them once the quilt is finished?? At least, that's what happens to me. You are vigilant enough to catch yours before sewing them together. :)
