I sewed the last seam in the Hexagon Star quilt and put it back up on the design wall. I will try some border choices today. It is about 60" x 72" right now.
I worked on the red piano key border for the medallion quilt all morning yesterday.
Then I sewed the purple border onto the top. I folded the strata to see how the next border will look. In the book this last border has a quilt block in each corner. I will have to decide on that before I can proceed. Check here to see the quilt in the book.

I like the way the stars show out and recede in Hexagon Stars depending on where I focus. The red piano keys will be a nice finishing touch on the Bear Paw and I'm betting you put blocks in the corners.
Both quilts look great!
so much scrappy goodness!
Good morning Wanda....After viewing the quilt in the book, I think the corner blocks would look better. Otherwise the continuity of the pattern would be broken, especially with all the bold and bright Kaffe fabrics running around the quilt. It may look better with a break in the corners. Hope today's weather is better than yesterdays rain, sleet, snow, high winds, bitter cold and sun. I hear the wind in Chicago reached 50 mph, but I don't think we were far behind. It was a brutal day.
So beautiful Wanda - both of them.
Very nice. All that red!
Hexagon Star is lovely. I enjoy finding the stars. And the fabrics...perfect.
The Hexagon Stars turned out so beautifully, Wanda. I love the colors of this one.
The Hexagon Star is just perfect, I love how you mixed the fabrics for the stars to shine.
Your hexagon stars are quite lovely!
Fabulous medallion piece. I also love the striped fabric with the flowers in your star piece. Really keeps your eyes moving around, looking for another piece of it.
I L O V E the hexagon star quilt! Your color choices are outstanding and the way it fits together make it remarkable! Love, love, love this top! You are amazing. :)
The piano key border looks so good echoing the inner red border.
I love it! The hexagon quilt is incredible, so rich and glowing. Quite a challenging palette; but you made something amazing!
Oh, that hexagon star. Just so pretty!
