Gardening...........

I made one last walk around the house to cut volunteer trees to go on the brush pile on the driveway.  Pickup will be some day this week.  While I was out there I noticed the hydrangeas are past time to be cut and dried.  I should have done them 3 weeks ago.  I got one good bouquet which I'm hanging from my bicycle handlebar to dry.  I don't think they need to be upside down to dry but it sure is the easiest way to do them.

The Sandwich Fair starts Wednesday and goes through Sunday.  Labor Day was the latest date it could be this year so the fair was also late, always starting on the Wednesday after Labor Day.

The MD state fair ended yesterday (Labor day), but we have one more county fair to go starting on the 19th of September in Frederick County, MD.
(You don't have to enter your county fair prior to being able to enter the state fair in MD. I've heard in other states that only with winners move on from the county level to the state level.)

I finally had to break down and mow my grass last evening. The neighbor's lawn mowing service had mowed his and that made mine look even worse. It was still 90 degrees out at 6:30 p.m., but at least the humidity was only around 41%. I still need to trim and pull weeds in the front and in the back I will have to get the weed eater out to cut down some grass that has gotten to high for the mower. It is suppose to finally cool off by Saturday so maybe next weekend I can get the rest of the mess cleaned up.

The bicycle makes a great drying rack.

I cut some of my flowers to dry a few weeks ago and I hung them upside down too in a dark closet. I think I will go outside and pick some more as yours is so pretty. We are having some hot weather here again today.

I've been meaning to ask for a while - what is a 'volunteer' tree?

Also, what will you do with the dried flower's?

It took me a couple of minutes of pondering "what on eath, I wonder, is a sandwich fair?" before I remembered where you live! Eureka!
Even though I'm not a busy person like you, so involved with my garden, all kinds of groups, etc, I enjoy reading about all your pursuits and how you manage to get them all done on time, neatly fitting each piece in on time! It's very satisfactory! I hope you take satisfaction in being able to be so well organized, energetic, and productive. It really is a blessing. And, I can tell you from personal experience, it's very sad to lode those abilities. I think, because I used to be very much like that, but lost a lot of my energy and also a lot of the spark I need to get going on things, I can really identify with what you're doing - and maybe I'm just being wistful, "I would've even had a life like that, but for my brain injury." Not that I don't have a great life, it's just a whole lot more sedate and slower than yours.
By the way I really enjoy that I always never have to prove that I'm not a robot any more! It gives me great satisfactions!

I cut my hydrangea's 3 weeks ago and they shriveled up into unidentified blossoms. Never had that happen before but maybe I cut when they had too much moisture left in them. They looked more like bouquets of baby's breath. My bouquets from last year looked better... I will pick again soon as I send this off. (*._,*) Hope you make it out to the Fair, cause this is another year we will miss. I sure feel a longing to be there. And am hoping you can share your photo's with us again. Thanks ~
