In the cool basement...........

I showed a pile of triangles on Saturday that I sewed on Friday night.  Yesterday was hot and steamy so I played in the basement.  This is the first layout I tried.

Then I grouped the colors for some of the rings.  I don't think I'll sew either of these layouts but it was fun playing.

I still have more cutting to do on the Kaffe colorwash.  This first piece will just be a small one to see how it looks sewn together.  Meanwhile I'll continue cutting the hundreds of Kaffe fabrics that I have.  The rest of the week is supposed to be in the 90s and very humid so I think I'll be in the basement for a couple more days.

Playing is the fun part. You find your direction with them and it will be beautiful. Chris

As usual, you have inspired me! I have been sewing triangles as leaders/enders for another project, but if I don't like how that project works out I now see another use for my triangles.

How did you manage to have that many differnet fabrics? When I grow up I want to be like you

I really like the top version with the multi-color rings. I find it more interesting, visually.

I was drawn to the first version but felt there was something that needed to be tweaked. I was glad that you said you were still playing around. I know it will be spectacular when it's finished.

I am with you about hiding in the basement! I am sure glad that fellow was able to fix my A/C! My poor yard is a disaster, but it will just have to wait until the humidity goes down and it get cooler. Oh, and when I have time! I think the t-shirt quilt I am working on now is my last deadline for the year, but then again I could be wrong and something else pops up!

The HST quilt will be pretty no mater the layout. How about a zig zag layout? I just kidding!

You know how to stay cool in style!!!

Your HST layouts sparkle. As others have said, it will be fun watching what you do with this. I've been thinking of the same idea as a stash buster. Keep us posted!

Hello Wanda. I arrived here while blog-hopping and loved my visit. I clicked back to an earlier post about value and found it very informative as it's something I get confused about.
I love your use of colour, particularly the colour wash quilts, just stunning.
best wishes Kath in England

It's amazing to me how well you're able to make the color wash work with the Kaffe fabrics, even on such a small piece. My guess would've been that using fabrics which had that much pattern in them, you would've had to make a much bigger piece to get the color wash effect! But you've proved me wrong! I guess it's a good thing I'm not a betting person!
