Back at it.........

I'm going to help a friend baste a quilt on my tables in the basement today so first thing on my list yesterday was clean off the tables.  Then I ironed 4 blouses and cleaned off a cutting table.

I pulled out this book to look up a quilt I have been wanting to make.

Kaffe calls it square clamshells.  There is a similar quilt made of the clamshell shape and this was another take on the pattern.  I have been cutting 2.5" squares of Kaffe fabric for the last week.

With the limited number of fabrics I have already cut I designed 2 blocks on the wall.  I like the almost all red and pink in the book but haven't decided if that is the way I will do it.

Here are the blocks enlarged so you can see the fabrics better.

Finally we see what you're up to! I like both of your blocks. How many squares did you cut from each fabric? I was thinking of African fabrics, might be too busy though???

We had a day trip to London 3 years ago and visited 3 museum's, including the Victoria & Albert. The V & A was a fantastic place but we had to cram in so much in one day we didn't get to see everything on display. I would love to spend a whole day in the V & A to marvel at everything on show; hopefully next year.

I love the blue block better than the red, but I know they will be beautiful. I don't have that particular book of his, finally stopped buying his books. They are a form of eye candy though.

More stunning examples of why you can never have too much Kaffe fabric! Even if I only add a few pieces to a project, they make it alive! These blocks are both beautiful. And that you used others to make your colorwash just makes me smile.

Blue is my pick, and what a superb design. I have 3 charm packs of Kaffee fabric coming soon, as I won a gift voucher from Sew Sisters recently. I might need to look at his books to find inspiration for a quilt pattern.

I vote for the more saturated red and pink, but you can't go wrong with either one. Or both?

Ah, both look wonderful actually! I've often looked at this in the book, it's a great version of the original pattern! Look forward to seeing which way you go!

This is one of his patterns I have always admired but was never too keen on the all red look, I love what you're dong with your lovely colours.

I like both colourways too, and knowing what a super quick sewer you are, I'm guessing that you will make a quilt in each. They bare such beautiful fabrics you can't go wrong!

They are both fabulous and glowing. I love that quilt pattern too!

I made this quilt and it was quite fun - however, I followed the same fabrics that Kaffe used since they were all new and available! I'm sure whichever you choose will be interesting!

As a lover of Kaffe fabrics both blocks look great. I have the book and need to look up this pattern. Thanks.
