Borders, sashing, fall leaves......

I thought I liked the 2 partial blue circles meeting on the top left borders but now I wonder if it is distracting.  I could take that strip off and flip it end for end and it might look better.  I'll look at it again when I get home from the family reunion this afternoon.  A few people tried to convince me to put a narrow border first but I like the way the colors in the crosses meet the circles in the border.  I do like my quilts busy!
The sashing is a little wider than I had it for the audition.  I decided a little more of it might be an even bigger impact without stealing the spotlight from the stars.  I think I will quilt this one with diagonal lines in one direction.
It seems like the redbud leaves turned yellow overnight.  I only noticed a few branches with them a couple days ago.
As soon as they turn color they start dropping.  The squirrels love it because it gives them more coverage when they bury the walnuts.  I hope they remember where they buried them because I'm tired of cutting down little walnut trees.

I love your border on the crosses quilt. It's spectacular! I do see what you mean about the blues in the upper left corner, although I didn't find it distracting. If you flip the top strip around, there will also be less red tones in the upper right corner.

I see what you mean with the blue circles, but I'm not sure I'd take it apart. You'll know what to do. If something really bothers me I know it's better to fix it.
I love that black striped sashing too!

those circles look fine from here. I like both quilts -- you certainly live up to your blog name with these. Lovely!

Your quilts really came together quickly, I love the bright colors. I didn't notice the blue corner til you mentioned it, I think the movement in the piece takes care of that.

Your squirrels are probably saying - "Darn, I know I planted a walnut tree here! Who in the world keeps taking my tree??"

I hope you enjoy your family reunion!

I like the borders on your quilt just the way they are. My mind always wants to complete partial shapes so I find the almost full circle on the top left corner pleasing. Love this quilt!

it's your quilt :) If I put a thin border on around the crosses before the final border it would be maybe an inch of black as it looks like black is in the final border, but that is all I would do different.

The border for the crosses quilt is great! I really like that you didn't add a thinner border before attaching it. I'm not sure those circles would bother me, but I if it's still bothering you after the reunion, you might want to flip it around :) Looks fantastic! I also love the wider sashing on the second quilt!

I kind of like the circles like that. And the stars are really spectacular! I love it when the leaves start to fall. My neighbors give theirs to me, too, making my chickens very happy. (And making me lots of good rich soil later!)

The blue arcs coming together make a happy accident, I think. It looks great the way it is, and I'm happy that you didn't add the inner border. The vertical sashing is cool, too!

Oh my goodness, is this quilt speaking to me!! Love everything about it. And I think an inner border would have defined the quilt too much, as it is, it just flows. I don't think the circles are distracting at all. Perfection!

I don't think it is distracting at all. In fact, a tiny bit of rest seems good. Plus it doesn't match perfectly... Great use of border fabric.

Another W O W quilt ! And I will look forward to the finishing of your stars.

Loved your autumn leaf photo's. My favorite season is now.

Our cool rainy days with heavy overcast skies left us with a bonus of snow covered mountain tops. So beautiful on a day full of glorious sunshine.

In our family we call those "squirrel trees" - oaks of all kinds and pecan trees all over the yard and planted into my patio pots. We feel your pain.

1. I would unstitch and flip the upper border strip (I agree with you).

2. LOVE the wider B&W sashings!

Fall is happening here, too...

It's not cold enough here to have a truly coloured autumn, and we don't have squirrels (but birds spread enough seeds/nuts) so it's interesting reading what's happening half a world away.

We are experiencing a very cool October - it should be short sleeve weather by now but I'm wearing a sweatshirt and sweat pants!

I would not change the blue corner. It adds interest without being distracting in my opinion. I love the effect of the border and the black and white sashing on the other top is awesome.

Not that you asked me, but I'd not worry about the corner, I think it's more distracting to you because you've worked so closely with it. That border fabric is just excellent for the crosses and I agree with you on having that new fabric smack right up to the crosses...it is stunning.

I don't know if that circles border is distracting but I think it does detract from the inner portion of the quilt. Just my humble opinion. It doesn't add anything to the crosses part and isn't that the whole point?
