Our Land of Lincoln Quilts of Valor group was notified that 170 soldiers (Army) were coming home a month early with a presentation ceremony this weekend. I had brought home 4 tops that needed borders from our last sew in. I got borders on 3 of them and got them quilted yesterday. I even got the binding on one of them. I am happy the troops are getting home before the holiday season to be with their families.
I found out the pattern we are using in these quilts is named "Illinois Road". I have been calling it a pinwheel in error. Two of the quilts are made with 3.5" strips and the other one with 4.5" strips.
For those who asked about the reindeer embroidery pattern yesterday, it is from an Amazing Designs package named "Holiday Dreams I".

Yes, I agree, it is terrific they will be home in time for the holidays. A nice treat for them and their families. The quilts will be well received, I am sure!
It is very nice that they will be home for Christmas. They will love the quilts.
glad to hear those troops will be home. We are lucky this year in our very extended family that all of our military family members for once are stationed stateside.

The quilts are lovely. Is your gourp going to be able to have 170 quilts done by the time the soldiers arrive back home? That is a lot of quilts.
That IS a lot of quilts. And what a blessing that they will be home with their families for the holidays!
I like that pattern, it is so easy to put together, and I see you've changed your blog "look" a bit.
The quilts look great. I belong to the Tidewater Quilters Guild in VA Bch, VA and we have sent over 1100 quilts to Ramstein Germany to give to the wounded soldiers. Our area has the largest Navy base in the world so most of us have military ties. I have made numerous quilts. Will try your pattern next.
I like those quilts, and the pattern must have gone together quickly; I'll put Illinois Road on my to-do list. What an appropriate name!!
A few years ago some local guilds donated quilts to Walter Reed Army Hospital here in Washington, DC. One of the soldiers, a double amputee, was shown on the news being rolled down the aisle at his wedding, with one of the quilts draped over his lap. What an honor that must have been for the person who made it!
I'm so glad the soldiers can come home early, it's always so sad when families are unavoidably separated at Christmas time.
wow....beautiful
Great for them to be home - lovely quilts for them too. Happy days for them and their families.
How lovely to make those quilts.
Hope your father is feeling better.
I know that worn out feeling.
I really like this pattern for quick, easy utility quilts! The meander quilting suits them perfectly. The ones you've finished look great. I could use up a lot of strips from my bins. Could you tell me the finished sizes?
