Lots of pillowcases, no photo...........

At the end of the sewing session at church we had 34 pillowcases totally finished and 6 almost done.  That includes the ones I showed at the end of October.  Our goal is 50 to be delivered before Christmas.  I have a lot of poly/cotton solid color fabric that we are going to use for them too.  I know I'll never used it for anything else.  We used to make ruffles and backs for patchwork pillows out of it back in the 1980's.  I need to get it all washed and cut for the second Mon. in December.
I didn't feel like sewing when I got home so I did more cleaning of the cutting table.  Now you can imagine what a mess there was when it takes me parts of 2 days to clean it all off.  I found the 3 crazy pieced blocks in the photo above.
I also found this little group of Kaffe scraps, all 3" tall but different widths.  I thought about trimming them all to 1.25" wide and making a Chinese Coin little quilt, but maybe I'll leave them all different sizes and border them all with a solid color (or more than one) and then trim to blocks all one size.

I say keep the Kaffe pieces all different widths. It will be more interesting. You all really worked hard on the pillowcases! Sounds like you will definitely meet your goal by December.

I agree with Jackie, you guys are really doing a great job on the pillowcases, only 10 more to do! And the Kaffe pieces, they'd also make great centers for wonky log cabin blocks. I love the crazy pieced blocks, somehow the one at the top right calls out to me even more than the others!

It's a great life when you can say "I also found..." in a post. That alone wakes one to nothing but possibilities, possibilities, possibilities. *karendianne. cheering for pillows, too.

I would make a coin quilt with them in the different widths. Coins are not all the same thickness, so it seems like that would make it more "realistic" (but I am all for saving the extra work and fabric too.)

Isn't it amazing what you find when you clean up? It is almost like a treasure hunt! The Kaffe scraps will make a lovely coin quilt. I too say go with the different widths.

two days to clean off your table! you must have been busy lately!!My table sometimes gets bad but it is small so it doesn't take much to get it cleared off. Have a great day.

You don't want to keep any more scraps than you already have. Really. They just get in the way of progress. So, just because I think you're great and a generous soul, I'd be willing to take those Kaffe scraps off your hands. No, no, don't thank me. What are quilt-y friends for?

Your guys really got a lot of productive work done there. Wow!

Your scrapy blocks look great and I know those KF rectangles will be stunning when you are finished with them.

Oh, yippee!! More little goodies to play with. I have absolute confidence that you will find the perfect use for them.

Those Kaffe's would make a great piano key border. Different widths = more interest! I think that one on the top right is one of my all-time faves.

I'd keep those all the different widths too. I found a group of Oriental rectangles I'd cut and now I"m playing with ideas of how I'll use them.

I'm sure every one of those pillow cases will be enjoyed to fullest. 50 is a great gift for them.

Your 'crazy' blocks always make me smile. Wish I could find the treasures you do when I clean off my cutting table.

Would you like to come and clean off my sewing table? Oh,and there are the piles underneath too. You know, the ones that wouldn't stay stacked up on the table any longer. I've never had such a mess in all the years I have sewn and quilted, but I do have a lot to show for it. And as always, you do too. Lovely work for those who will benefit from your pillow cases. I agree with others that different widths with the KF strips would be awesome. I thought I was the only person on the face of the earth who still had a bit of a stash from the 1980s! Best wishes!
