Many thanks, and a quilt top.....................

My daughter really surprised me with the second post yesterday and I was blown away by the number of birthday wishes.  Thanks so much to all of you who took a moment to comment and wish me a happy birthday.  I loved all of your comments and am so happy so many people love my blog.

I found a few minutes to sew in the afternoon between lunch out with family and pizza brought to my house last night.  The top is finished and now I see 2 of the same fabric just one half hexagon apart but it is going to stay there. (bottom center one row up from the bottom)  It ended up 58" x 80" and has 208 half hexagons in it.

Now I can start putting the rectangles of the Kaffe collective up on the design wall and then determine which fabrics to cut more of.

I love this. Such a "mish-mash", but it all works together; as in plays together nicely. Once again "Happy Birthday"

The top turned out beautiful! I recognize some of those fabrics as I had them in my stash too.

Another belated but very sincere Happy Birthday, Wanda! I too read your blog too early to catch Vicki’s post. Wanda, you have been an inspiration to me ever since I first saw your quilts hanging at QBU! I check in every morning for a little dose of color and pattern. And I certainly miss our Art Quilters workshops! Here’s to many, many more creative, colorful years!

Isn't it the Amish who include a deliberate mistake in their quilts because "only God can achieve perfection"? Love the whole piece!!!

Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday Wanda. I did not see your daughter's message until today, since you ended up in my Spam file on Wednesday. I don't know what's going on, but so often mail winds up there, when it shouldn't. You're starting to catch up to me now, lol. Lots of hugs and best wishes for a healthy 79th. year of your life.

I just wanted to let you know I am a big fan of your blog, and your work. I wish I still lived in the Chicago area so I could take one of your classes.

Happy Birthday!

Belated happy birthday! I just saw the surprise post this morning. I so enjoy your blog. Your two same fabrics made me laugh- I did a charm quilt of Tumblers, unfurled it before quilting friends at a retreat to help hunt for any prints that were the same. Almost right away someone spotted matching Tumblers. AND they were cut from the most noticeable fabrics in the quilt- chili peppers on a bright background! I left them, too, as a humorous reminder.

This colorful honeycomb of hexagons is stunning.... If you hadn't seen it and told us about it, I bet no one would have ever spotted it. I must admit it was fun looking for it.

I missed your birthday announcement yesterday, too, and I am so happy that you had a wonderful day of celebration and recognition. My 73rd was 3 weeks ago! It doesn't seem possible, but I guess it is.

I'm loving your African fabric riot of color and I look forward to your new projects every time one seems to be wrapping up.

Take care,
