I completed the sewing on my colorwash top. It is about 40" square. I rotated the photo all 4 ways but decided I like it best just like I designed it.
My Viburnum bush is really pretty this year. I think it has only turned completely into these beautiful colors a handful of times since I planted it in 1995. Usually just one or 2 branches turn and then the leaves fall off.
I searched for how to get green tomatoes to turn red and this is what 2 of the sites showed. A banana with just a little green on it in with the tomatoes to help them turn. I picked all of the large ones but didn't bother with the ones smaller than a golf ball. I have about 2 dozen so we'll see how many of them turn.

I agree with top/bottom view of your flimsy. The Viburnam leaves are very pretty; did it have flowers in the summer time? Try putting some tomatoes in a paper bag and into a drawer - that worked for me but they weren't as large as your toms.
I think the top would look great with any side at the top!!! Tomatoes will ripen... most of the time... without any help. It just takes them longer. I've also heard wrapped in newspaper in a box also works well. We just ate fried green tomatoes (oven fried) and finished off the edibles that way! Delish!
I love the bush that is so colorful. I picked all of my tomatoes last month as I was just ready to be done with the plants. I had 2 windowsills full of green tomatoes - it took awhile but they did all ripen eventually - I tried the banana with a small group to see if they would ripen faster - they didn't for me but it must work for some people as it was mentioned in my search more than once.

I harvested the green tomatoes about two weeks ago. The larger ones have reddened nicely.....The "supernova" in the colorwash is great!
The colorwash is so pretty and so is your bush! I don't eat raw tomatoes so I am no help at all on how to get them to ripen.
Here in the south they fry green tomatoes……I think it requires a special knack…..I’ve yet to conquer! But you’ll find them listed as a ‘side’ on many menus here.
the absolute best way to get tomatoes to turn red is to put them in a paper bag (with the top folded) on your counter. i tell my customers that toms are "sniffy": they like to be in a bag to ripen up. room temp/counter only, tho. NEVER the fridge.
also, an old fashined way was to wrap them in newspaper and put them in a box. ( i use a bagel box from Aldi's and put them in a single layer). keep them in your garage, or a cool room. you should have red toms all the way to thanksgiving.

The mentions of wrapping in newspapers made me flash back instantly to my grandma, and how she always did this! I am not a fan of fresh tomatoes so I've never done fried green ones. Your colorwash is lovely! And my viburnum is red this year also. I don't remember seeing it that way before.
Hi, Love this post! As for the tomatoes, we always have green ones to bring in when it gets frosty. I put them in a single layer on a sheet of newspaper in the pantry. It is dark there unless I go in for something. Every size is ripening perfectly. Yummy too! Never had a problem with this method. Enjoy!
The smaller green tomatoes make great pickles!
I have used the trick of using a banana to help ripen tomatoes, this trick also works well with avocado.
