I got the four corner blocks cut and the last two borders sewn onto the medallion quilt. A lot of readers liked the bear paw in the corner but to me it just led my eye out of the quilt instead into the center. This border is definitely a frame.
Here is a reminder of my inspiration quilt. I added one more border, the purple one after the light border. Luckily my Bear Paw block was the same size as the log cabins in the book so I was able to follow some of the directions in the book and still make it all fit together.
This is the book it was in, by C&T Publishing company.
I auditioned two fabrics for binding and I think it needs to be the darker of the two and also wider than a normal binding.
Last night I went to a gender reveal party to hear which gender my new great grandchild will be. The mom 3 states away ordered the cake which has a layer of frosting in the middle with the gender color, so now we know it is a boy. We were live with them over cell phone video so they saw who was at the party and which color we wore predicting what we thought the gender of the baby would be.

What a cute party idea....that takes the cake! lol.
Yes, now the wallhanging is great. I so agree with you about the choices you made. The dark binding will finish it off perfectly.
What a great way to celebrate a new baby!
Hi Wanda, Love this quilt! You are right, purple goes with everything! :) Also, I looked through your posts on this quilt...how did you make the dog teeth border? You show the segments, and that you trimmed them to size, so I don't think you paper-pieced them. Love the perfect points! I love both dog teeth and sawtooth borders. Adds so much interest to a quilt.
Good morning Wanda....You didn't mention what color you wore for the party, but congratulation on your 2nd. GGson. I've heard of the gender reveal parties before and think it's a very unique idea, a little more fun than the normal phone call.
Definitely agree with your thinking on the Medallion quilt corners, as well as the binding. You are usually right, and your reason definitely makes sense. I bet it's really stunning in person. Even though your photography gives us a pretty accurate sense of the color, there's nothing like the real thing.
Glad we'll be in Florida next week because this weather is so depressing.
Your design tweaks work so well with this quilt. Thanks for sharing all the details.
The dark binding mirrors the darker inner border and looks great! Congratulations on your great grand baby!
cute idea for a party had never heard of one like that - congrats on another baby in the family a few months from now. Pretty finish to the medallion
Your medallion quilt is lovely. Love how you finished it.
Another grandson... Happiness is a healthy baby.
YEAH ~ ~ ~ perfect corner blocks, for your Medallion border. That is the one I preferred over the others. Always makes me feel so good when I like what have selected. (*._,*)

Great idea for the party. I have my first grand niece/nephew arriving this August. I only know they are going with grey and splashes of bright colors like turquoise. So that's what my next quilt will be. LOVE your medallion finish.
I like the addition of the purple, of course. What a fun way to celebrate the gender of the new baby.
The cake looks delicious! And I have really loved seeing this medallion come together. You nailed it on those corner blocks, in my humble opinion. It is just perfect in every way!
I like your take on the quilt. It's a good book, I agree, and full of ideas and information. You did well pulling the viewer back in toward the center. It's never easy to tell, but looking at something over a few days usually sways us one way or the other.
I'm probably late, but the quilt looks great, and I think either binding will work well! Congrats on a new baby in the making. Will you use a baby quilt from your stash or make one from scratch?
I wasn't crazy about this quilt when you began working on it, but as usual you made it wonderful with just the right choices. I love it. You have so much talent.
Your medallion quilt turned out beautifully - as we all knew it would! Congrats on another grandchild coming!
