First Triangle quilt..............

Back in March I started designing a quilt while I watched TV.  It will have four different size triangles in it.  I designed a second quilt too which I will show in a few days.

This will be made in rounds rather than rows so here is the center section.

Then I made two side sections and sewed them on.  So far this is 2" and 3" finished size triangles.

Then I made four sections with 4" finished triangles.

I sewed them on last night and then chose the triangles for the last row top and bottom of 4" triangles.  Next will be 6" finished triangles which I put up on the left to see how they will look.  These are all batiks, scraps that I cut into triangles with my die cutter and then store them in a box until I come up with an idea for them.

I love this! I've been toying with a similar idea, but with only two sizes of triangles.

What is your planned size for this quilt?

This reminds me a little of a project I'm working on, but it's all paper pieced. So, I'm really interested to watch your progress!

I like it! Too few people play with size as a design element, I think. But you do!

Love seeing the progress from 'idea' on paper to idea on the wall.

I have used my die cutter for "scrap busting" and made lots of triangles. I was doing some cleaning this past weekend and found them stored. Some are sewn and some are not sewn. I need to plan a project with them.

This is so great!! Love all the triangles. Designing something with so many sizes and getting them to meet is hard for math challenged me. I think the colors and sizes are so great. Love the center is not square, but rectangular. Just so gorgeous!!

I love this quilt....however the fabric with the checks bothers me a little bit. It draws my eye. You know I am no expert on fabric colors and designs so I will see how this works out.

I would love to try something like this - I too have thought about using the half-square triangle in different sizes.
Love it.
And your fabrics are always so lovely - you truly do inspire me, and I send everyone I know to your website or blog.

Your process is great. I have a friend who draws out patterns and she, like you, comes up with great designs. I know this one will be another winner.

In one of those optical illusion things our eye sometimes does, each new size section appears to add a new level of depth to the project. Look forward to seeing this one done.
