Crazy piecing..........

Last night I just wanted to relax while watching TV so I made some crazy pieced blocks.  I used some small centers which I had made earlier and just added more strips to them.
I think I completed 6 or 7 altogether but I had already taken some down to the basement before I grabbed my camera.

I couldn't resist this spring cactus at my local W*lm*rt store.  I have 3 spring plants already but they are sickly and have never bloomed so I'm going to toss them and hope I can keep this one alive.

I cleared the leaves off another area of my big backyard garden and I have hostas and Jack-in-the-Pulpit coming up.  The coneflowers are starting to grow too.

Saw those flowers at Wallys yesterday and thought of you. Considered getting one, but decided to not!!! I have to repot all of my houseplants this year... and it is a big enough job as it is!!!

Mindless sewing is fun...

Wanda, when you make those tiny blocks, do you use a particularly thinner thread, or do you just use whatever you have in your machine (which is what kind of thread, by the way?)?

I love making crazy blocks. Do you have something in mind to tie them together when you are making them? Certain colors that you use on the outer edges? Different values? I love to sew the small pieces but can't figure out how to make the blocks play together so they look like they come from the same family instead of all disparate units.

I need to learn to pace myself when doing the yard work like you do. I went out on Friday and worked so hard that Saturday was a big waste since I was so tired. You are making nice progress on the projects!

That looks like such fun sewing. They look wonderful too.

That cactus is just beautiful. I hope it does well.

I haven't quite mastered sewing and watching TV. I tend to get so tired when I sew that I need to "step away from the machine" (said in my best authoritative voice).

That Christmas cactus is bonkers pink - I'd throw away my sickly ones for that too.

Wanda, your new cactus reminds me of a water lily in petal shape, arrangement. Very cool! Or how about bursting fireworks? Love to piece things like that after working hard outside. Another gorgeous day here today.

I really must make a start on using up all the clean up strips, I have two bins full and the wonky blocks would be good. Beautiful pink cactus lowers,

I always like it when you get wonky. I think you are MEANT to be wonky.

Great and beautiful colors! I know you sew and watch TV at the same time. Don't you have to turn the sound up a lot to hear it over your machine? That would be a problem I'd think? Just wondering, and that's one reason I'm always hand piecing.
