Starting the layout.........

After errands and mowing my whole yard in one shot it was time to start working on this Double 4 patch quilt again.  This is one block of each of the combinations that I have sewn so far.  There are 4 blocks of most and 3 of the ones where I cut 2.5" sections instead of 4.5" or the other way around. There is enough for four 4 patches in one strip of 2 fabrics sewn together if I don't make any mistakes.  I need to sew 5 more combinations of 2 fabrics to get the number of blocks that I need.

I also need to sew these 16 blocks for my One Block Wonder quilt.  Play day for the layout is next Tuesday.

New batteries do make a difference. Glad you were able to get it done. The quilt top you are working on is striking with the two color shading. Enjoy the holiday. Chris

The 'one block wonder' has me curious. I do like the fabric.

Oh, I looked back a bit. It is like the one Sarah made. Sorry for the memory lapse.

Do you ever use any of the 4.5" fabric to make the 2.5" patches in another block? In other words does the 4.5" brown from block 1 ever appear as the little 2.5" in another block? Or are the 2.5" fabric used exclusively for the 2.5" blocks? I hope I am making myself clear.

I am looking forward to seeing your one block wonder quilt come alive. Mine is on the design wall and so far, it has taken me and dear husband about 4-5 hours over a two week period to figure a good design. It's there now and when the flooding goes down to allow me to go home, I will see if the design is finally ready to sew. You are an artist and can do this way faster than I.

I'm not a big lover of brown, but this quilt is growing on me - I like the block with the 2 large leaves in the middle. Looking forward to next Tuesday and your 'one block wonder' reveal. Have a nice weekend - wish I could send you some of this heatwave we are having!!

Both of these projects look like fun, and a nice variety to keep you excited.

Great fabric for the one block wonder! I would love to make another one, but finding the right fabric is difficult. Getting a big repeat is hard.

Looks like you have enough sewing to get you through the holiday weekend!!! Next week IKEA!!! Then unpacking the Creative Stuff! But first I have volunteered to escort the Home Arts judge through the Quilting Exhibits at the County Fair! Next year I'll enter!
