Final layout............

I put the blocks up on a double design wall, thought I had the final layout 3 times and each time found either a stripe next to the same stripe or a duplicate square near the other one.  After moving a few blocks I made the decision that I'm done designing and took the rows off the wall stacked and clipped together.  I need to get back to quilting a wallhanging today and may find time to sew this together too.  I have the wild idea that maybe a 6" border of a large print would look good around this.

and I thought I was the only one that got tired of the move this, too close to that... what about this one over here? I always give up...and once sewn wish I had changed another!!!! Just close your eyes if that happens!

Large print sounds good. Chris

I am with you on the large print border. You need something that will be able to hold its own with all that is going on in the middle.

Sometimes it is impossible to separate everything. I let pretty good be good enough and go with it.

It is not a wild idea. I think it will help the stripes stand out. I like the border idea. Happy quilting today!

I was thinking of a big print border on this too - can't wait to see what you pick!

It's super duper like it is. In my book anyway. Find myself thinking that many quilts don't need borders unless we want them to be a certain size.......but agree this one can use a border and you always pick the right fabric so can't wait to see what comes next.

I thought that was a beginner's problem - getting tired sorting it out! Pleased to hear experts go there too, the large print border sounds great to me. Looking forward to seeing what you pull out of your stash!

I really like this quilt, Wanda, and am curious what you're going to call it.

I was worried about the gold squares, but I love how they finished off in there. Very nice!

Wanda, I like this one SO much!!! It just sings. And now I'm waiting impatiently to see what treasure you pull from your stash for the border. ;)

The only thing worse than moving blocks around forever yourself, is designing something at a retreat and having everybody at the retreat pitching in and wanting to move your blocks, too, because each of them sees just one block out of place!
This quilt is fabulous. It's perfect as is, and I'm sure will be even better with just the right large print border - which I'm SURE you will find!

I feel your "pain" at working on such a busy fabric layout. Sometimes it feels like I'm playing that old TV quiz program "Match Game"! I finally tell myself that I'm my own worst critic and no one, other than me, will notice if there are two same fabric squares in close proximity. I absolutely LOVE this one Wanda! It's so gorgeous - so bright and cheery!
