Layouts.............

I should have turned on more lights in the basement before I took these photos.  Of course the batiks are prettier when you are right there with them.  This is layout #1 starting with the lightest blocks at the top and darkest at the bottom.

In layout #2 I just turned a few random blocks sideways to see if I liked it.

In layout #3 every other block is turned a quarter turn to create a woven design.  Layouts 1 and 3 were the ones I had in mind when I was making the blocks.  The blocks will finish at 10" so this is a 60" x 70" layout.  I thought about making another group of blocks a shade darker than the bottom ones and splitting it into two smaller quilts.

I ironed the fabric for the back of the red/tan flannel quilt but didn't get it sewn together.  I decided instead to make the rest of the blocks that I needed for this flannel quilt that I started back here.

I needed to make 22 more of these blocks and cut a few plain squares.  Now I'm ready to go to the design wall with this one.
There were three blooms all on one side of the cactus so I needed to take a photo.  The bloom on the left is just starting to shrivel up and the one on the right just opened up.

I actually like layout #2 the best. I am not sure why, but it appeals to my eye more.

The first layout makes me think of a trickling waterfall. Love the blocks!

I love that first quilt! Purely personal choice. I do like the commenters comparison to a waterfall too. Very apt.

It does look so pretty in the 1st layout. So simple.

Love layout two. Different and it means the eye has to roam over the quilt xxx

I have to say that I like layout 2 as well! It's different and different is good!

My first reaction was that layout number 3 was my favorite, but the more I look at it the more I like the first layout.

Funny, but I agree with Gene - I like layout #2 best. Beautiful way to use up your cutaway strips! Love the pink and green cactus plant in your zebra planter too!

If you're influence by votes, I'm going for 1 and 2! I'm going to link to this over at the stringthingalong.blogspot.ca.

The light colors must be because you are dreaming of spring!!! Very pretty and I think I like #2 best. It will make a gorgeous quilt any way that the blocks are together.

All the layouts work for me. I can't wait to see which way you go.

Great batiks! All the layouts work but I really like the randomness of #2 - more interesting as the eye moves across the surface. Beautiful work as always. Love the shot of cactus color.

OT comment! What do you use to feed your cactus? I know they like root bound pots, mind have no issue with that! But, I only get one blooming. Thanks and quilts are lovely too.

I like #2 also. I like the randomness and unexpected movement.

I really like layout #1. I have been very aware these days of the importance of repetition in quilt design - it builds drama, so that's what's been appealing to me recently!

I always enjoy reading the commenters and their opinions of their favorite. I just like to wait and see which one you will be happy with and that will be my favorite too. (*._,*) Your pastels are so fresh and pretty. Just like your cacti blossoms.

The flannel piece you are adding too is going to be magnificent.

I like the woven one, it seems to show the strips off so well, Cheers from Jean.

For whatever reason, I love number 1 the most. SO pretty (and I can only imagine being in the same room with those luscious batiks)!

Oh Wanda! Layout #1 sings to me! (Insert Opera singing Viking with helmet with the horns!) Do you foundation piece these by chance?

Has to be number 2! It is so much more interesting, like the jumbled library quilt.

I like all the options, especially No 3. It looks like it's a weave. These blocks reinforce my love of string blocks.
BTW, loved the spools in your last post.

I know you didn't ask for votes, but you're getting them anyway! I was really struck by #2, the random look, I think. Looking forward to seeing what you choose - you can't go wrong, of course.

It looks like we all like all three. My favorite is layout 3.

I like them all but no,.1 best
Are they 11x2 1/2 strips

I like them all and all make a very nice quilt. However I like number 2 best. If you are like me your eye moves over the whole quilt to find the non-organized/rotated blocks. Looking at it in a much more detailed way.

Another vote for #2. It is the least predictable of the three. (#1 is my second choice.)

I like the first one the best.
