Blooms.......

A friend stopped by yesterday so she and I strolled through the garden areas and discussed plants.  My red Penstemon and Coreopsis were both blooming in the front flower bed.  I have never cut any Penstemon for a vase before so I'll see how they hold up.
I have never grown roses.  My neighbors to the north planted one on the lot line and a redbud tree decided to grow right next to it.  Now the roses lean to both sides of the tree and even climb up and curl around some of the lower branches.  One of my neighbors had showed me how hers uncurl from the center and today I saw that mine look just like hers.  They are kind of an old fashioned type rose, not the typical bouquet roses.
I put 5 mug rugs in the box I mailed yesterday.  That makes 86 total.  If I make any more they will travel with me.  Right now I'm pretty burnt out on deadlines and plan on just having fun for a couple days.

Love your flowers. Those old fashioned roses are my favourite. Have fun for a few days. You deserve it!

I would be burned out from so much sewing too. That is when it turns to be work and not fun! Your roses look like an old fashioned wild variety to me. I have some that are a pink color that are wild and grow right up into the trees - they finished two weeks ago now and will not flower again until next year - do yours flower just once and then quit for the year?

Your poor machine must be tired also. It needs a rest. You will be ready to go when you get back. Chris

You have accomplished so much for the show. Enjoy a few days off before your trip and all the show excitement.

Wanda,

Visitors to your exhibit will be so lucky to be able to buy a tiny quilt of yours! Hope you enjoy the show and the classes.

Could you perhaps say a word about how you do the final join of the binding on small pieces like the mug rug? Do you just fold under a bit on the last edge, straight on, and tack it down? Whatever you do is virtually invisible in your photos, so it must be a good method! (Hope I've described well enough what I'm wondering about.)

Sorry I missed the garden tour...our visit was too short! Enjoy some play time and get rested before your trip.

How neat! I've never seen a rose open that way before. And yay for some Wanda time. You have certainly earned it. Hope you're having lots of fun.
