Setting triangle fabric

I worked on this quilt top back in 2008 and got stalled trying to find a fabric I liked for setting triangles.  I knew it had to be a medium value and multicolor.  I figured it should have brown in it so it would be neutral and not draw your eye to one color in the quilt.  When the Kaffe's were on sale for $4 a yard I ordered a couple that I might not have purchased otherwise.  I think this one is perfect.  You will have to click on the photo to see it better.

A couple people have asked about my camera. If you go to the label list on my right sidebar, Cameras is one of the links.

Sale fabric is always a great find even when you don't know where you will use it. The fun of it is using when you least expect it. Your choice is great for the quilt top. Chris

I love the square in a square look. It is so versatile. I really like the way you use value. I am not an artistic person so value is sometimes hard for me.

Very nice - and you were right about the brown - perfect. Brown is one of those colors that tend to be overlooked.

I really like the fabric for the sashing. I can't quite see how you pieced the blocks. I'm looking for ideas for my own Kaffe Fasset quilt. I have some fat quarters and a 2 1/2 strip inch roll. It looks like it would work with what I have.

Hi Wanda,
Looks great from what I can see of it. Those Kaffe fabrics change depending on what you put next to them... kind of like batiks. Another reason to buy fabric "just because".

Oh yes ! This is the one to frame these wonderful blocks. I hope everyone takes time to enlarge this piece as you suggested...

The brown setting triangles look like the forest floor with your wonderful blocks as foliage resting on top. Great choice.

Perfect indeed.

Love it! It fills your requirements perfectly--neutral with a hint of colors from the quilt. Lucky lady to find just what you need on sale.

Re: an old post. I told hubbie about photos you had of your periwinkle vinca, but you warned that it could be invasive. That's just what he wants to fill one open area next to the house. If it gets too invasive, he's an expert with a weed whacker!

A perfect fabric selection it really sets the colors off.

As I commented in one of my last posts, waiting for an answer works. It is also something most quilt teachers never tell beginners (or if they do, beginners don't yet have the knowledge base to "get it").

So glad you found such a perfect fabric!

I like this quilt. If it was mine I would try making each of the setting triangles from the coloured fabrics used in the blocks. If it was mine. Your choice works too.
