Cleaning the basement
The art quilters group is coming on Monday so I need to get the basement cleaned up again. When I was painting the wall where the gas meter used to be, I had to move my daughter's doll house. Now it is time to move it back to a storage area.
One of our good friends made the doll houses and there were several styles to choose from. Another friend sold the furniture at her shop and I traded patchwork pillows to her to sell. The drawers all open in that tiny chest of drawers. We never got motivated to paint the house. My daughter says I can try to sell all of it so I hope I can find a buyer. It is all from the early 1970's.
I pulled some more thistles and dandelions for my daily dose of gardening. It was in the high 60's today so it was really pleasant outside. We need rain though. Some areas are like concrete. I left the dandelions there until after the rain this weekend.

Oh, how I love that dollhouse!! What a wonderful treasure for someone!
I played with a house like that! At my neighbour's house when I was in kindergarten. It was all done up with burgundy carpets and trim. I remember that hutch! Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful dollhouse and furniture. My girls would have loved that when they were children. I agree with Cathi, it will be a treasure for someone.
A lovely Doll's House and I am sure someone will love to have it.
Oh did you find your disk???
My cousin had a doll house that I remember playing with -- loved it.
Do little girls still play with them? They outgrow dolls at such a young age these days.
I love the doll house it reminds me of one we put together for our granddaughter. Do I see a tiny patchwork quilt in the first photo?
Little girls still play with doll houses and little boys too. We have a plastic one at church and it is a very popular toy.
A friend of mine bought a dollhouse like that and put it together. Then she stocked it with furniture and dolls from the Calico Corners collection. Have you seen those? They are little animals, like bunnies and squirrels. Too cute. She then donated it to the Catholic church in town to raffle off as a fundraiser at Christmas time. I thought that was a great way to make a dollhouse if you really didn't have a use for one, or a great thing to do with a dollhouse one no longer wanted (and you still get to craft at the same time).
If only I had a girl...
If you are seriously interested in selling my daughters boy friend is an auctioneer in Northern Indiana and can sell it for you. Recently they had a lot of doll furniture to sell. He sold one of my Singer Featherweights for me.
Calico Cat's comment made me laugh......the doll house is great. My granddaughters at this stage would not have an appreciation for it. I do hope that you find a good home for it.
We had a dollhouse of a similar size and floor plan when I was a young teen. It lives at my mom's house now and the grandkids (my kids) enjoy playing with it when they visit. We have the exact same upholstered chair, stove, and sink with pump. I remember making them from a kit though. Probably from the same manufacturer. The dollhouse at my house is a dutch style townhouse filled with european looking furniture.
That brought back memories of my mother making dollhouses for my sister and I out of cardboard boxes. We would cut out windows and glue on shutters and cut doors. With extra cardboard we would separate rooms and then wall paper them with scrap pieces of wall paper. Wish I had a picture of one of them now. I will have to see if Mom took any.
It was lots of fun and yours is so
beautiful but way beyond our means at the time.
Wow! Neat dollhouse! Hope you can find someone who will really charish it!
It seems like the dandilions are everywhere this year! Every day I find more in the front yard, seems like I'll be pulling dandilions all summer long...
How much do you want for the dollhouse? I've got an almost-two-year old and I think she'd love it. I'm in Denver, so there would be shipping involved... I'm at annephillips12 at gmail
