Leftover strata pieces............

Last week I cleaned out 2 drawers in a cabinet in the basement and these leftover pieces were in one of them.  They are from a project about 3 years ago.  I started playing with them to see what I could make with them.
I finally decided to just make mug rugs from them.  The six on the right have all of the same fabric group in each of them.  The 3 on the left have mixed groups.  They aren't masterpieces by any means but they will look better when they have some matching fabric binding on them.

They really look neat. Good use of things leftover. Sometimes we just have to fiddle to get the juices going again. Chris

Like you, I save leftover strata pieces, but they're never enough to do much with. Mug rugs are a good solution!

Very refreshing color combinations, yet in a different layout. Glad they will be used!

they are actually quite pretty - I like those colors! I have one left over block that is too large for a mug rug I think it is 12x12 I want to use it in something and I'm thinking about what

I tend to turn leftovers into potholders more than mug rugs. I'm not sure why. Mug rugs keep their shape better (less distortion on the quilting due to the extra layer of insulbright). Anything that uses leftovers is a win in my book.

Nice use of those blocks! I'm still thinking about yesterday's post and 384 different Kaffe fabrics! LOL. I cannot imagine your stash and I'm probably a wee bit jealous since I love Kaffe fabrics too. I may have 50 prints, shot cotton, and stripes all together. I'm fairly new to quilting (~4 yrs) and still working on stash! I really enjoy your posts and so glad I found your blog, sewing and gardening....two of my favorite things.

They look great! And it always feels really good to make something of the forgotten bits and pieces you find when cleaning up. Good for you!!
