I decided to do some test packing of my quilts. I needed to know how many could be rolled on a tube and still fit in the long boxes that I have. I am planning to ship the quilts next Thursday.
I spent several hours quilting and decided I needed a break from it. I have 2 quilts that need temporary hanging sleeves. They can stay on permanently if someone wants to hang them or removed easily if they want to use it as a couch quilt.
I mowed the grass last night and when I came in I started working on the bartacks in the corners of the mug rugs again. I found that the open toe foot gives me a better view and it is going faster now. I have 45 done. I have 8 waiting for binding and I am going to stitch the diagonal corner as I complete each side individually. That will save having to go back and bar tack them later. This means I need to pick busy prints for the bindings so the stitching won't be so obvious.

You are taking time to sleep and relax now and then, aren't you? I don't know how you fit it in. You've been going and going so much, getting ready for the show, but you're always such a high achiever.
You're thinking of everything, worrying about a lot, and dotting all your I's and crossing all your T's in preparation. Not many would worry about those bar-tacks on the corners of the mug rugs, but you want a perfect product and you found a way to efficiently deal with the corners.
Your rolling and measuring and planning your boxes--that's a "Careful Wanda" step.
I'm loudly cheering for you here in the upper Midwest, impressed but not surprised by your attention to detail and thrilled for your upcoming show. I wish I could attend. It's bound to be memorable for you and all who attend!
Thanks for taking us along on all your preparations for you quilt show... a TON of work!
And you mowed the yard? Wow. I am ashamed of my lazy self. I had been trying to remember "bar tack," so I thank you for jarring my memory. I wanted to join my yo-yos that way but could not think what it was called to look it up in my Bernina guide. Take a minute to do something fun this weekend. Love, Karmen
You and your work have always amazed me -- and that amazement and RESPECT continues to grow unabated.
Thank you for sharing this process of preparation with us!
That will involve a lot of boxes for you. It must be scary to ship them off.
Doing the bar tacks at the time of sewing the binding has to be a much faster technique than going back to do them.
Those adorable mug rugs are going to fly out the door at the show! What a great idea to roll the quilts on tubes! No fold marks when they get there!
Wanda, you are a wonder. Just when I think you can't possibly surprise me with any more of your great ideas - there you are rolling your quilts so neatly to pack them. Genius! And the mug rugs - oh my, I'm sure they will sell out in a hurry. It's going to be a great show. Wish I could be there!
