Yesterday morning I cut the 4.5" squares for all 6 combinations and last night I sewed the 24 blocks.
It was -7 when I checked yesterday morning and we never got above 0 all day. I had to go out to PT and with the sun shining it didn't feel as cold as I expected.
Today is starting out in the minus degrees too but we will get above 0 today.
I went through the new pile of strips I found in the basement and there were 3 more greens and purples. This will make 12 more blocks.
Now I have to decide how to pair the rest of the fabrics and whether they are all going to look good together in one big quilt. I could easily pull some green and purple batiks off my shelves and make more for this first group.

I love the purple green combo as much as I like a green blue combo. This super cold weather is drying out my hands and the static electricity gives quite a shock. 😳
I like those dbl 4-patch blocks, Wanda in the greens and purples...
5 degrees here this morning with windchill of -3 so far. And we awakened to red skies--I guess that old saying will be coming true this weekend..
I will be doing some scrap sorting today--they've mounted up again behind my back it seems...;(((
Stay safe and warm during this stormy spell...
Hugs, Julierose
Nice! And I like that you can get two matching blocks out of each pairing of fabric.
Cheerful colors for this white wintry morning (wind chill is -1 here / real temp is15 but we're headed down and down and down over the next few days). Very happy the power is still on.
We got more than 2 inches of rain last night and temps here are going down. When I last checked it was 32 degrees. The roads are still wet, not icy, but that could change. It's a fuzzy sock kind of day for us.
I really like these blocks. I'm trying hard not to start anything new, but these are tempting as I have way too many batiks that need to be used. It was minus 5 this morning at 7:15, but back on the + side now. We are expecting up 12" of snow starting tomorrow. Subject to change, of course.

Oh Wanda, I think you've inspired my next scrappy project! Stay warm.
Fabric combinations and pattern design, will make this a quilt another show piece.
I love those batiks in the second photo -7 sounds awful but yes the sun out and no wind always makes a difference. it is 15 here and snowing 2 inches about last night then it stopped now it is falling again lightly
These are a fun way to use up strips during a cold spell. Green is my new favorite. It’s a harbinger of spring ahead and with the purples and pinks truly reminds us of flowers.
