These 2 little mats have been sitting in my studio waiting for the stitching around the edge for at least 6 months. All it takes is changing to a topstitching needle and filling a bobbin with the heavier thread. I kept avoiding doing that. Finally last night I got them done. They have one layer of batting and one layer of a stiff heavier interfacing (not as heavy as Peltex).
The backs are Kaffe fabrics too.
They are close to 8.5" x 11", one a tiny bit larger than the other.
There was one more top already pieced so I cut the batting and interfacing but haven't found a back for it yet. It will be quilted and then edged with a close zig zag like the other two.
We are in for a cold week, some days below 10 degrees.

I’m like that too….needing to change the needle and the thread is such a recipe for delay, when in reality it doesn’t take that long! The third one is my favorite :) And few unfinished pieces moved to the finished list! Windchills here today, dropping to -17!!!
I also put off changing to a walking foot or back again--it's the one thing i find difficult on my Viking--not really hard, but tricky...
These littles are so adorable--love the colors in them;)))) you have such a great eye for that!!
We got 4.5" of snow overnight --once again more snow than we've gotten in the past 4 years or so...a heavy, wet snow that has our cedars leaning down--hopefully no branches will break under that weight...Hugs, Julierose
The third one is my favorite (even without its backing or edge being finished). Congrats on moving these forward!
Good for you to get those two mats done and the third one done soon!
Love your colorful wee mats!
Why does it seem to be such a bother to change thread top or bobbin when it takes so little time and effort? I remain bugged by a little repair I did (that no one will ever see) with the thread that was there but was the wrong color. Is this my mother nagging me again? :-)
It's going to be cold here, too. Stay warm!
Hugs!
They look like little paintings! So pretty. Stay warm!
So fine and pretty your satin edging is … I enlarged to see the stitching ‘up close and personal’. Finishing off these two colorful mats to a “T”.
Oh all of the mats are gorgeous. The fabrics are so vibrant.
So pretty!
Laura
those are pretty and the backs are as pretty as the fronts
