Another day of good intentions...............

I don't get much done in the mornings.  It is my computer time, when I clean up the kitchen from the night before, and other things around the house.  I planned on basting another baby quilt in the afternoon.  After lunch I knew I had to take my van for a ride to keep the battery charged so I went to W*lm*rt.  For 2 weeks in a row they didn't have any big bags of frozen strawberries.  I use them in my morning smoothie.  Shortly after I got home my son came by.  But first I'll tell you about the photo here.  While my son was working on something I cut the backing and batting for this table runner.  Later in the evening I layered and pinned it with flower head pins and stitched in the ditch around the crazy pieced squares.  I haven't decided how to quilt the rest of it.  The back is the opposite color of the same print as the borders on the front.  It will be the binding too.

Back to my son's visit.  First he put a battery charger on my van battery.  Next he replaced the end connectors on the fixture he worked on Saturday for a tighter fit for the bulbs.  Then he checked the cold water hose on my washer since it was just a dribble coming into the washer.  Now it's better.  Then he hooked up the new TV stick on the TV I can see from both my studio and my kitchen.  Another remote to learn!  He's trying to convince me to turn in my Comcast boxes and switch over to the stick on all 3 TVs.  He patiently set up the new system (lots of passwords needed) and gave me instructions of how to navigate through it.

By the time he was leaving my van battery was charged up half way which is way higher than it has been for a long time.  He needed to unhook it so I can drive to PT this afternoon but he will come another time and get it to a full charge.

I have to say, there’s a learning curve but the TV stick is nice and you can leave Comcast behind. We had a battery trickle (I think that’s what it is) that has a quick disconnect so the battery stays charged and we could disconnect it when we took the motorcycle out for a drive. Notice the past tense, lol.

What a good and attentive son you have, all our sons are 1000 miles away. When they visit in the summer they help as needed but in between we have to hire a handyman. Every winter my husband has to hook up trickle chargers to both our cars to ensure they will start when we get back from the land of no ice and snow.

Love your new table runner and it's marvelous fabrics! Will you keep it to enjoy yourself?
Nice to have helpful and handy sons who are adept at all the wizardry computer, chargers, and TVs need these days. Best of all if they're nearby and willing!
The temperature yesterday was 64*F but the blustery winds were arctic and not fun at all.

Hugs!

The table runner is so pretty. I have a remote just like that for my upstairs TV. The one in my sewing room is different. I find that it is easier to use my left thumb than my right hand to work. I have to depend either on my neighbor or my son to fix my tech issues. And then I won't even talk about all the passwords! LOL!!

The blocks for the table runner are great! I'd say yes on converting to Roku. I have a Roku TV downstairs and an LG TV with a Roku stick upstairs. (Though my 2026 goal is to sort out the streaming services and cancel those I don't watch.) Stay warm!

We have an annoying assortment of remote controls too. I sometimes think it would be simpler to get up and manually change channels than it is to find the right remote and then remember how to use it. Oh, well, at least my husband is in control of that and he can deal with the frustration!

Please give your son a hug from us and let him know we appreciate his efforts! And seems this is the season for having to learn new things - our updated phones are being delivered today and then we have to go and get them activated, data transferred, and figure out all the new features.

Your day sounded like a good one for you with all that Scott was able to take care of, for you yesterday. Today is your PT day… do you have daily exercises to do at home also ?

We've left C*mc*st behind for a while now--just too expensive!! --we do Roku and over the air...
Glad to hear your son fixed all your items for you...makes a big difference to your day-to-day living!!
29 here right now and the wind is gusting to 30-35 mph!! We went out for breakfast this morning; I brought home half of my portion--way too much food for me...that will be my dinner tonight...
No sewing going on here--maybe a bit of handwork on my panel,
but can't find anything I really want to make--thought perhaps a "Duckworth" quilt-or log cabin style..I am kind of quilted out, I think for a while...hugs, Julierose

I really hate learning a new remote control they are the hardest things I think. I'm glad it is all taken care of for you - your son sounds pretty helpful fixing all those things that needed fixing. My daughters car battery doesn't seem to charge good and she is using our older extra car right now until she can get hers in the shop to see what is going on with it. Mornings are my lazy time I rarely do much of anything it seems in those hours.
