Binding started.................

I got the binding sewn onto the medallion quilt and got 1 1/2 sides hand stitched last night.  This one should take me 3 evenings to finish.

A couple weeks ago I got a package from Nann.  She went to Kay Sorenson's estate sale and got these 2 fabrics for me.  She knew that Kay and I were friends.  What she didn't know is that the fabric on the left is one of my very favorite African fabrics.  The one on the right is an Australian fabric by M&S textiles.  It is a lot different than their current fabrics and I wonder if it was one of the early fabrics by that company.

A reader, Barbara, had received a box of fabrics from an estate sale and there were some Nancy Crow fabrics in it that she wondered if I would like.  I got them yesterday.  I have never seen this print before so I was very happy to add it to the NC stash.  My local quilt shop at the time stopped carrying the NC fabrics after the first few lines.

This was the other fabric in the box.  I had a piece in both rust and burgundy in this print but had never seen the blue one.  It's a little more of a dark gray-blue than it looks in this photo.

Fabric packages in the mail are such a treat! Great that the others recognized the fabric for you.

What a lovely surprise pkg you received from Nann--so thoughtful of her...I've never seen that Nancy Crow fabric either--so used to her geometric ones...these should all provide a lovely springboard for new works!!
Snowing here at long last--;))))) 3+" so far and still coming down...our lovely woods are all draped in white and so pretty...;)))
31 degrees so, clinging to everything...we are due for a very cold blast overnight through tomorrow...
I am disappointed in how my 4-sies look--so I have stopped that project before I got too far along...May be doing some "ribbiting" today...disappointing, but I will find another way to use them up...
hugs, Julierose

The two Crow prints are so different from the others, but I can imagine them as an interesting counterpoint in an all NC-fabric design. Stay warm today!

Love the binding fabric you chose for the medallion quilt and your speedy progress in sewing it on!
Isn't it a delight to receive fabrics from folks who know what you like?
We have a breezy 34*F, light snow and sleet this morning. 14*F tonight.

Hugs!

I didn't know she had died - I used to be in touch with her years ago - I remember running across her blog and saw she was from Wisconsin and left her comment of her beautiful quilts and she kindly came back and looked through my blog and gave encouraging notes - I don't know how long ago it was that I lost touch probably in the spell when we were traveling a lot

Aren't online quilting buddies just the best friends? And to find fabrics from your favorite designers that you've not seen before. Early Christmas presents just for you.
