My son came over yesterday morning to fix my 8 ft. burned out lights at the bottom of the basement stairs. He removed the ballast and then rewired it and now it takes the skinny LED 8 foot bulbs. He ended up staying another 2 hours helping with other things I can't do. I didn't eat lunch until 2:30 and didn't get around the the quilting on this plaid baby quilt until evening. The quilting is finished but I didn't want to go down to the basement to do the trimming or choose binding late at night.
The on point squares created by the quilting are 2 5/8" so this is plenty of quilting without doing ditch quilting along the seams.
I think I'll look for a stripe for the binding. I'm not sure I have enough of any of the yarn dyed woven stripes so it may end up being a printed stripe.
Today's prediction 57 degrees and rain, tomorrow's prediction, 22 degrees. It sounds like a week in the high 20s and low 30s with a possibility of snow mid-week.

Nice to gt all those little things taken care of by your son for you;)))
Cute backing on this quilt!!
Only 12 degrees here this morning and more stormy weather slated for tonight...
I haven't done much, if any, sewing or quilting over the holiday; we are taking all the decorations down today. After all the rich food the past few days we will be eating lightly tonight; my homemade chicken soup should do the trick...
Hugs, Julierose
you are blessed indeed to have a handy handyman! does he need new customers??
Yay, for a son who can and does fix burnt out light fixtures …..especially at the bottom of stairs! It was lovely of him to spend another couple of hours doing things for you.
We are supposed to have a cool down too. I've decided I better give both dogs a bath while it's still warm.
This is a fun back for this quilt. I’m looking forward to the finish photos. What process did you use for sewing it? Did it go on the design board? It is certainly more complicated than a straight 16-patch! -Roxanne
What a wonderful backing - good luck choosing the binding (perhaps a tonal rather than a print that might not play as well with the plaids?). Our temps today are 70s into the 20s by morning. Sinus joy . . .
good to get the lights changed out in the basement. Basements sure need good light.
How helpful to have a handy son to mend, move, or carry this and that!
What a cute and cuddly quilt with such a happy backing fabric! Yes, the trimming and binding search can wait until daylight.
Our temperatures are up and down like a bouncing ball and we may have snow or sleet (or both) on Saturday. Tomorrow will be 64*F.
Hugs!
Scott takes the spotlight today ~ good for him to help his mom. You couldn’t have picked a better backing for this quilt, and surely for a baby boy.
10 degrees here in the Rockies this morning but it has warmed up to 12 already.
That is so good to get those lights fixed so you can see those steps! What a good son! I was thinking about having a party and in order to get into the party you have to fix something!
Your son sounds absolutely wonderful, tell him he has admirers! And this is really a cute quilt.
