Layout one......................

These are the two newest blocks I made yesterday for the purple Rosy quilt.

All spots are filled in on the layout now but I don't think this is the final layout.  I'm not sure about the light large square 4 blocks down on the right edge.  It is pink, blue, and lavender but maybe not a bold enough print.  I have nine 9 patches left over so I could make it a row wider and a row longer but I don't know if I want it to be that large.  I still have 2 or 3 rows of squares to put around the perimeter of the top (either 15" or 21").  The top as shown here would be 45" x 63".  Add 15" to that and it would be 60" x 78".  Add 21" to that and it would measure 66" x 84".  I'll look at this for a couple days and decide on size and layout.

The purple Rosy is coming along beautifully! I can see why that one square bothers you a bit….and it’s the only single large square. Hope you had a good checkup and everything is holding steady with your heart. It’s 43 out this morning. It’s only supposed to reach a high of 51 and be cloudy all day.

I really like Rosy, Wanda--such lovely fabrics playing so well off each other. That one block does stand out though, I agree.
46 here this morning and overcast--almost standard time again--darker days will be upon us once more...speaking of which--I finished stitching around two of my suffolk puffs and squares yesterday--so moving along...on my own "Dark Days" .
And I will be tackling one last block on "Sunrise, Sunset" today...if my hands allow...
Hugs and hope all went well yesterday Julierose

The paler block does stand out, although there are small squares that look similar. Maybe that fabric has a home in the perimeter?

Hope your Thursday goes well.

The light fabric does stand out. Would it fit better if it were not next to the third block down in the fourth column?

I agree about the light fabrics: the two lavender squares with white flowers and the pale paisley as they do draw the eye.
Wishing you well after yesterday.

Hugs!

It's looking good! I bet that square is lighter in color than in the picture so it probably sticks out more for you.

Looking good! Have you considered moving that one light square into the interior of the quilt and placing a darker square there? I've found that "lights in the middle and darks at the edges" can sometimes solve a design problem.

I am so late in the day looking at blogs I've been outside off and on all day with pulling weeds before we get 5 days of off and on rain which will make it easier to do the rest of it. I love all the purples and look forward to seeing what you decide

Oh, that is lovely! It would be a great quilt for Quilts for Kids using 2.5”/6.5” sizes too. Idea filed away!!
