A different project...............
After grocery shopping and putting everything away, I wasn't in the mood to turn on the iron and press the quilt top....so I started a new project. A while back I showed all of the precut flannel pieces I had and I decided to make another baby quilt with the 4" tumblers. This is just rows pinned to the design wall. I'll decide if I want to move any of the rows to a different position and then sew them together. This one should finish around 40" x 40".
There were 257 tumblers (cut with my die cutter) in the box and I used 140 of them in this new top. That leaves 117 so I need to cut up some more scraps to get up to 140 to make another one. I like to have several flannel baby quilts ready for winter.

Those are gorgeous flannels. I find it’s quite easy to cut more (sometimes way more) pieces than I need when using the die cutter. It made me laugh when you said you didn’t feel like ironing so you started a new project. That seems to be the way of it sometimes, a new project starts because I don’t feel like doing whatever step is next in the current project. PS. I’m blogging now at seemorequilts.blogspot.com.
gonna be one cozy quilt!
You sewed all those rows yesterday? It going to be a pretty quilt! Did you press your seams open or to one side? For my zig zag I pressed the seams open for the blocks. I am not sure if I will press the seams open when sewing the rows together or not.
I've cut the pieces for a Lava Lamp quilt but then lost interest. Maybe I will pick it up again. I am in the process of making a receiving quilt with a wool batting.
40 x 40 is a good size for a lap blanket also… Flannels are always so nice and cozy. And this one is so pretty.
These flannel tumblers will make such charming and cozy quilts, just right for babies and those who sit a lot. Love the variety of flannels,, too!
Tonight the low is to be 41*F - talk about cozy!
Hugs!
that is a good use of the flannel - I am going to need to start looking for a pattern to use up all the leftover flannel I have too after I get done with the one I am working on. I have another small box of pieces that wouldn't work out for the current one - I know I have enough for a baby quilt at least
I think tumblers make great baby quilts. I have a stack of hand dyed tumblers but not enough yet. I gave a bunch of my scrap fabrics for our trash to treasure auction so I don't currently have any scraps to cut! I knew who would buy the fabric so I was happy to let it go.
Lovely flannel tumblers for this quilt...it will be so soft;)))
Nice work getting all those cut and up on your wall...hugs, Julierose
