Sewing.................

Four more stratas were sewn with the Nancy Crow fabrics.  Those 2 stripe fabrics are favorites and I have used them in other quilts in the past.

I pressed the stratas I had sewn previously and cut the segments to make 2 blocks of each combination.  I decided to sew one of each and see how well they play together.  Since a lot of the Nancy Crow fabrics are geometric, it looks like plaids in some of the blocks.  There are several stripes too.

We got a half inch of rain before 8 a.m. yesterday, much needed since we are in a drought area now.  Some areas got between 1 and 2 inches of rain.  We are down over 6" of rainfall since the beginning of the year.  I know we aren't alone in this lack of rain.

We received more rain over night and I just received a freeze warning for tomorrow night!

I don't know how far behind we are in rain. Since the last day of August, we've had only .75" of rain on September 22nd. Otherwise the very few chances of rain brought us only a damp driveway if that. I started watering trees this week. I guess at least the harvest can be done in record time?
I'm liking this latest quilt. Maybe it's the blues that keep it whispering "fall" not screaming it?

Those stripes are excellent! It stopped raining here around 10:30 last night, but we did get almost an 1" of rain which was good. The rain that was forecasted for today has disappeared which is probably good since there is so much work that needs to get done in a short amount of time on the bridge project I am on. I will have to have one of the guys take me out on a tour to catch up on all the progress they have made.

The stripes perk up the strata. A trace of rain, a lot of sunshine, and much cooler temps.

I sure hope you get more rain soon. I like those Nancy Crow stripes too.

Love those stripey fabrics, too. Your strata look great together...
We've gotten .18 inches of rain this morning so far...hoping for more....
I did food shopping this morning in between showers..
On my way out the cutest little tot showed me her umbrella saying: "Isn't it lucky I have my umbarella?" with a huge grin...kids are so funny...

What interesting, rich colors in your 9 Patch blocks!
We had rain overnight but the all day and evening rain that the weekend forecast called 95% chance of rain for today has dwindled to a 14% chance, so am not holding my breath!

Hugs!

The warmth of autumn is shown in your strata’s with such wonderful combinations. ~ Such an unusual hot spring and summer with out any rain for so many.

we actually finally had about 10 minutes of light rain last night and of course it wasn't near enough to do anything to help the drought at least today and tomorrow will be cooler for a couple days - still 65 this morning which feels good

We had 1.2" of much needed rain yesterday. And frost warnings both tonight and tomorrow. So I moved 14 pots of plants inside this morning as well as rearranging another 10 or so inside to make room. Looks like the end of the season is here. I've already started fall cleanup since so many drought stricken plants were dying anyway.

I've been making 4 patches as leader/enders. Your 16 patches look more intriguing. I will follow with great interest. We are down about 8" and heading into a drought. I don't think it will break soon.
