A new piece...........
I have created my first colorwash piece of 2018. Why did I make it rectangular? When I was getting ready to finish the Old Italian block small quilt I decided I was going to piece the batting. While going through the boxes of batting pieces I found one that was the kind of batting I like for my wallhangings (Warm and Natural) and it was a small rectangle. I decided to do a colorwash that would fit on it. This piece is 22" x 31.5". Warm and Natural has scrim (polypropolene sheet) that the cotton is punched through and it doesn't stretch so it hangs nice and flat against a wall. For larger quilts I prefer Hobbs 80/20 which is softer and a little puffier. It is needle punched and treated with a soft resin to provide stability to the fibers.

A gorgeous start to the New Year!
That is the first time I’ve heard of leftover batting inspiring a quilt! Love it!
Too funny, the batting inspiring a quilt. I love the clear, saturated colors. It glows so well.
Beautiful! You inspire me!
Beautiful! I love the glowing centre.
Lovely colorwash and thanks for explaining about the batting. I've only made a few small quilts and used basic wadding/batting which is cheaper here. I googled to see what you meant about the scrim; makes more sense now :)
Beautiful Wanda! Somewhere I have a bundles of colorwash squares I bought from you a couple years ago.....I need to get brave and make one!
Beautiful!
The individual fabrics are so beautiful - and combined so much more!

No matter what the shape is ~ you design a gorgeous color wash.

You always do such an amazing job on these. It was interesting to read why you select the batting for the wallhangings.
I love it!
xx
Just beautiful!
