I have 6 or 7 table toppers and table runners to finish. I started with one of the toppers, about 16" square. It is made with leftover double 4 patch blocks. I stitched diagonally in both directions for the quilting. It is laying on a table and was impossible to get a good square shot of it. I'll take better photos when I get a bunch of them finished.
For the back I used another of those hard to use batiks. It is a pretty batik but doesn't look so great cut up. I hand finished the binding.
Yesterday morning I designed another flannel quilt, all 9" tumbler blocks. I have the rows down off the design wall clipped together. Maybe I'll sew the rows today.

I've had a piece of the batik for years, unused for the same reason.
I have a piece of batik very similar to that one. I think it needs to be used in large chunks to really show its beauty.
Love your table topper. I can't use them as the cat thinks it gives him permission to sit on the table. Also, our dining room table always has books and papers that we are working on. What a cool batik!
That is a beautiful table topper! Using that batik is a great way of using it. Kind of like some of my African Dutch Wax prints. Cut them up and you've got nothing, but using them on a back of a quilt and they just shine!
I really like your fabrics, very striking.
That backing is really fabulous, but I can see where it would be hard to use.
Smaller pieces offer so much more instant gratification -- good idea to use the hard-to-use pieces for backing. They get to show off.
A very unique table runner ! The black backgrounds in each block gives such a deep richness to the whole piece... And then to add that grand backing that is dripping with long drops of color. Another 'WOW' piece..... Your blog always brightens my day.
