The art quilters came and we had a fun day. Early in the evening I decided to go to W*l-M*rt to get a few things. On the way home I got a flat tire. I always wondered what it would feel like to blow a tire while driving and now I know. I sat on the edge of the highway for a half hour waiting for the AAA road assistance. My van is 12 years old and the spare is under the front seats. I never imagined that they would be able to get it out after all of the years of road dirt, salt, snow, etc. The guy did get it out and put it on so now I'll be going the tire shop for a repair today.
When I got home I started looking for the triangles in the photo. After spending an hour searching I found the box they were in but I was too tired to start sewing them.

Glad to hear you got home safe! Vehicle trouble and break downs are stressors for me.

if your weather was anywhere near as hot as it was here yesterday, that half hour felt like an eternity.
I am glad you had AAA to rescue you.
glad you had road side assistance - we do too, I have never had to use it but gladly have it.
So glad you are safe and that AAA was able to get your spare in place so you could drive home. The triangles will wait -- take care!!
Hi Wanda.....I'm happy your blowout was a safe experience and that you weren't on the expressway when it happened. For the most part, Stan and I are usually together when we go somewhere, but I do drive quite a bit by myself and often think about getting a flat myself. Hopefully it won't happen, but we never know. Enjoy the day.
So glad you are okay, Wanda....and that you had AAA to come take care of installing your spare tire.
Love those triangles....looking forward to seeing what you have planned for them!

AAA is well worth having. I too wonder about blowouts. Maybe fearful is a better word. Am in the process of explaining to grandson the importance of good tires . He is trying to get his first car on the road. Like those plaids but I don't buy them. Fearful again. Of directional fabrics. Time to face the fear. LOL. Glad your experience was a safe one.
Glad you were safe when you lost the tire. Good thing you had roadside assistance. They will probably sell you two tires because they would be unevenly worn. Last year, my husband had screw punctures in the sidewalls after driving home from work, a week apart. Two new fronts, and then two new rears.
Can't wait to see the triangles come together.
Glad you were able to stop safely! I have had flats, but not on a highway. You had a busy day yesterday so no sewing is ok! Love the plaid triangles!
After all that it sounds like you need a recovery day!
I've always wondered how it feels too. Well???? Isn't AAA a fabulous service?
It's never a good day to have a tire fail, but I'm glad you were able to pull over safely and someone else was coming to fix it. Please ask the mechanic to check your other tires so the process isn't repeated.
Here was my long day. I had a 6 am flight booked. I live an hour and a half from the airport so I had to get up at 2:30 to get ready and go. I never checked my phone. I got all the way to the airport to find out the flight was cancelled and I was rebooked on one at 3:00 this afternoon. So I drive back home to get some sleep. Now my layover in Denver is twice as long so instead to getting to my destination at 9:45 this morning I get there at 9:45 tonight.
Glad that you didn't have any injury or damage to you with the blowout. Sounds like a pretty lucky, if exhausting, day!
Thankful you are safe and also wise to have AAA. Half an hour is a good response time. You didn't say how long it took for them to finish their work, but I'm sure the heat made it seem longer. Take care!
We also had a blow out about 6 weeks ago. Waited 45 min for insurance service to arrive. Never fun but always glad no one gets hurt.
I've had a flat tire a few times - I've got full road recovery, for any eventuality, which I needed 4 weeks ago when my throttle (gas) peddle broke. It's not cheap but worth the peace of mind. Glad you got sorted out and back home safely.
Looks like you have a new project starting - are you mixing up fabrics? checks and cottons (not sure if they are batiks).
I had a blowout once years ago on a highway. Not fun at all. So glad you are all right. Something like that will set you back a step, but tomorrow will be better.
That flat tire could have been dangerous!! Glad you made it home ok.
Sorry to hear about the blown tire, but thankful for the repair. And I am intrigued by this photo of triangles - can't wait to see what comes from it! I assume you are pairing the prints with the plaids....going to be a good one! i'd never have thought of it, but I know you'll make it look wonderful.
What a bummer! But glad you at least got to have fun with your friends before you had your flat!
