Binding started.......corners auditioned.........

The ditch quilting is finished and now I'm doing the hand sewing on the binding.  I wanted a binding fabric that was a bit darker than the border fabric but not too dark since the back of the quilt is a light color also.  I have about 1/3 of the hand sewing done.
I made the 4 paw blocks and then auditioned the added light strips on the outside edge and the inside edge (2 top corners).  Then I decided I needed to find the next border fabric and put it up there too to really see how the corner will look.  I'm going to go with the one on the left.  The red border will have purple squares at the corners when it is sewn on.
I was really happy I took this photo of the white blooms because later in the day I noticed the bloom and the bud had both fallen off the cactus.  In my effort to not over water them I probably had not given this one enough water.....they need more water when they are blooming.

So much progress. you are really moving along. Your medallion quilt it really looking sharp. My cactus still has not bloomed. I think it is just a one time glory seeker and it will not get blooms. Who knows. Chris

I like the fabric chosen for the border on the bear paws quilt. It pulls all the colors together. The added strips to the corner block works great.
I got 2 more blooms before the rest of the buds dropped....and I always forget to water.

I have a small piece of that backing fabric that you used and the binding. I do not use batiks near as much as you do but I love them and have some in the stash.

All the photos today are great. Love the batik shot showing the backing. Love the medallion- the red border gives it punch. The cactus flower is so fragile and beautiful. None of mine are blooming now.

Nice, very very nice. Someday I will have confidence to tackle points. I liked how resolved the bear claw problem. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt. Beautiful, frigile caucus. Thanks for the reminder.....I'm sure mine need water.

Ooh a finish on the way. I look forward to it. Good choice on the corners and border. I am glad you got the photo too so you can enjoy it longer.

I look forward to seeing your winter cactus blooms almost as much as I enjoy watching your quilt creations come to life.
