Sidetracked............

A generous friend gave me a gift certificate and one of the items I spent it on was Kaffe's new book.  It is always interesting to see how he uses his own fabric as well as Brandon's and Philip's.

I played photographer for one of my friends yesterday morning and devoured the book in the afternoon.  I have the bottom rod sleeve and facing ready to sew on the banner when my 2 friends come over today.  I need to cut the pieces for the top edge and get them sewn on also.

Love Kaffe's work, but I find the quilts intimidating to make.

That looks like a fabulous book. You are going to have fun with it.

I wondered if this book was going to fin a home with you at some point!
I have looked many times and pondered on whether to take the plunge - have you found there are new patterns/fabrics in there?

Hi, Wanda. Looks like you've had a productive and creative summer. Thanks for the reminder about facings in the previous post. Always good to brush up on techniques and I hadn't thought of facings as a finishing in a while. Always glad to see all the cheerful colors you're working with!

best, nadia

Isn't it fun to just wallow in all that inspiration! I may never make one exactly like any one I see, but I surely do like to see them and go with the idea sparked.

Sounds like you had a fun day. I don't use books much anymore. I prefer the internet. It kind of surprises me that has happened.

I went to see the exhibition that the book is based on at the York Quilt museum while on holidays. I loved the antique quilts! you can see them all if you look up the museum on the internet.
