I had a fun day with the art quilters yesterday, great conversation, and lots of projects made progress. Last night I just needed to unwind so I worked on more of my blue crazy pieced squares. I finished 2 before I started these 2 also.
At the wedding reception Saturday night there were orchids at each place setting and they were gifts for each of us that attended. It is my first orchid so I hope I can keep it alive.

Orchids are my new fun plant!!! I have 2 rescues and both are doing fabulous. Hoping to see some new flower spikes soon, and both are shooting out new roots. They love north facing windows, although yours may be too cool in the winter... Although I have discovered that they are much hardier than one would think!
Your orchid looks beautiful (just like your quilts) I've only ever owned one, given as a present, but it only survived a few weeks - I think my house was too cold for it to survive :(
Great blocks. I would love to see your process for making them. I am sure I could learn some tricks to speed up my work.
I put 3 ice cubes on the soil every 10 days. Mine have flourished for years.
Beautiful block and beautiful orchid. I'm told some orchids are very easy to grow, but I've never tried.
Orchids are kind of easy. Sunny window, don't let it get too dry or stay soaking. I run mine under the tap to soak it through. The varieties sold in stores are easy to grow- not so fussy. I summer them outside in the shade.
Good morning Wanda....I think I would like to try one of your crazy square quilts when I have time after the holidays. I've seen a video on how to create the blocks and it seemed pretty straight forward and fairly easy, so it shouldn't be a problem. Your orchid is so pretty and I'm sure that with all the other plants you've kept alive for many years, you will have no problem. Hugs
good luck with the orchid I killed the only one I ever bought. That was so nice of the wedding couple though to have these orchids and give them away. Love the blue blocks you are working on.
Love those blue blocks! I have never had an orchard. Your is such a beautiful color! I did get a bonsai tree a few months ago and I think I am killing it! The house I live in in is not so good for indoor plants.
Your blues look so pretty. I'll bet it felt good to unwind after your busy week.
The phalaenopsis orchid is easy to grow IF you don't love it too much. Is it planted in bark or moss? Most die from overwatering. I've had some for years and they bloom every year.
Play time is just a necessity, isn't it? Your orchid is beautiful. I've had several with varying amounts of success or failure. I gave the last one to my neighbor. She needed it. It had put up two new flower spikes and was doing well. Hope yours thrive. If anyone can get it done, it's green fingers Wanda!
I like the blue crazy patch. I've something in mind using a crazy patch for some of my fiber art.
I have a couple of orchids and like them. They are a long time in between blooms but likewise the blooms last a long time.
Blue crazy patches also! I remember reds and oranges. What fun. I've only ever had one orchid, but I'm so terrible with plants that I gave it away very quickly because I was pretty sure it wouldn't survive at my house.
your blocks are beautiful. love that orchid too. what a great gift. I had given one to my Dad a few years ago for Fathers Day and he still has it. That had to be 4-5 years now. he says he doesnt water it much and it just keeps on surprising him with blooms. not sure what kind it is.
Looks like you are doing fine with the Christmas Cactus plants. They don't last for me like the rest of my house plants. Good luck with the orchid, it's lovely. (Stephani in N. TX) (Tomazec@aol.com)
