I hope I can stay on the border express and do more of them this month. I have so many tops waiting for border decisions.
I have been waiting to put the border on this one since Sept. 2011. I wasn't sure I liked the way the points were cut off of the dark sashing around the diamonds when I first tried this border. My 2 friends and I decided it did look OK though so I sewed it on.
This one in Kaffe's book, "Simple Shapes, Spectacular Quilts" didn't have a border.
He also used different fabrics in all of the outside half diamonds and I used all the same fabric. My photo of this page in the book doesn't show the beauty of his quilt. It is really brighter than this photo.

I prefer your version with the orange border!
I like the borders on your quilt. They make those diamonds float!
Love the size, color and use of the border. It lets the color blocks really be a strong unit.
I like yours better!
Simply spectacular!
What a beauty! I agree with an earlier comment and like yours the best.
I do like that border. Hang in there and ride the Express to finish more of them!
Stunning border, Wanda! Your quilt glows like a silk tapestry!
As usual Wanda, another spectacular quilt. Your borders give it a more finished look, which I prefer. Gorgeous fabrics!!!
This quilt takes my breath away. This is the quilt I wanted to make with his fabrics but thought it might be too difficult. I saw a blog where Kaffe came and taught this class, it looks difficult to get all the colors right. You nailed it on the head ! Please do more borders so we can see your stunning quilts.
WOW, Wanda, I like yours SO much better than Kaffe's!! LOL It is REALLY pretty with that border and looks like it was meant to be.
This one is spectacular! I love it. Your borders are perfect and set it off just right. Beautiful!
I like the way yours floats with the border.
Yours looks like it could be a beautiful tiled foyer floor with a border. I like the way you used the orange for the outside triangles.
Yours looks far more impactful; the borders look fantastic.
I like yours, it's another beauty! And it looks like a LOT of work. Great job!
I like the way you added borders - the inner diamond points are fine - only the sashing strip diamond tips are flattened. Looks gorgeous to me!
Looks like a stained glass window with the light shining through. LOVE IT!
I like your setting diamonds and the border -- they add a frame to the somewhat busy blocks. I do think that extending the points would have been effective, but I also think that doing so would have been a piecing pain. Not worth the stress.
Wanda......I love YOUR version! The way you have the outer border with all of the same setting triangles gives the quilt kind of a 3d effect.....at least it does in the photo. Beautiful job!
Wanda I love your version, just a beauty!
You made a great decision.it looks fabulous.
I like your quilt better than the one in the book. I have all of Kaffe's books, so I pulled mine out to see the photo in the book. Your border fabric is dyn-o-mite!
By the way, thanks for the hint to look into the book, "Cultural Fusion Quilts". My copy arrive yesterday and I spent the afternoon delving into it. I love her philosophy and all the quilts in the book. Thinking of seeing if I can get her to come to our guild to speak and hold a workshop.
Well, now I think I have you confused with someone else, because I don't see the link to the Cultural Fusion book.
Nope, I found it. Thanks again. Great book.
I love your border, though I can see how it works without one as well.
Oh Wanda... your border = stunning. Kaffe's is okay, but if I was given my choice of one to take home, it would be yours!
I think the border works really well and completes the quilt. I'm collecting the fabrics for this pattern at the moment. it will be my first full sized quilt!
