Checkerboard Love.............

I have one December finish.  It is one that I have wanted to finish for a long time.  I pieced it in October 2011, chose the backing fabric in 2012, and finally finished it at the end of 2013.  It is approximately 63" x 83".

It looks great... it will brighten any room or life! I have quite a few that have taken 2, 4 or more years to complete.

How pretty! Of course, my favorite color is pink. Love the random placement of the different blocks.

some quilts take us a long time to finish for some reason - this one even though it took awhile is awesome!

You must remember: with quilting, you don't want to rush into anything! Like fine wine, the flavor savors as it rests. Happy holidays!

Love indeed! I like the way you broke up the checkerboards with two strips on either end. Love the whole thing.

What a great way to end the year. It looks gorgeous. I bet it is even more beautiful in person!! Happy Holidays Miss Wanda, and thanks for your blog. I learn something every time I visit. Your studio tour was great, with so many pictures. Now I can visualize where your quilt group meets & and see how you have room for them all!!

We all know you have had so many more 'finishes' in between the production of Checkerboard Love. It really is a grand design. Feels good and warm just to look at on these wintery days.

Every morning I look forward to reading your blog and looking at the great photos, whether they be of quilts, nature, or cookies. I learn so much about design and technique.

This one will now be filed in my brain for the times when I need to make a quilt longer but not wider, or wider but not longer. An "inner" border is a great idea. I'm just finishing the binding on a quilt that has blocks that are 14 inches square. It was hard to get it to the "ideal" size for the recipient. Now I know a great way to accomplish that for the next quilt.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Your blog brings so much color to so many lives!

Just the burst of color I needed to see today. Rain for days, dark and fog. Love the border.

Another beautiful, colorful quilt! I enjoyed gazing at it while I figured out the pattern. The way you arranged the blocks makes a big impact. I'm glad you were able to spend the time to think about the design.

I loved the binding before I realized you had used the same fabric as an inner border. Now I think it is exquisitely perfect!í
