Two friends came over to play yesterday and one brought rhubarb crisp which we ate for brunch. The other has a broken oven so she brought a strawberry rhubarb pie to bake in my oven which we had as a mid afternoon snack, both with ice cream of course. Oh, and we ordered pizza for lunch. In case you are wondering, we did find time to sew too.
I made one more star block, 3 to go to finish the quilt top. I also picked out a square with a hole in it in my Boston Commons top and replaced with a good square. Then I continued tearing papers out of the stepping stones blocks. I have all of the first column done and half of the second column. It was a lot more fun to tear out with company to talk to.
I had baked a double batch of shortbread cookies the night before so I sent a bunch home with them. Now I have 3 desserts to choose from today.....yum!

Being in the South, I have never had rhubarb. I understand it is a bit tart.
I hate the time that seems wasted tearing out paper. Have you considered a washaway/tearaway stabilizer?
Sewing with friends all day and eating desserts and pizza....what fun!

Isn't it fun to have scrumptious days every now and then when you throw diets to the wind? Of course, it's best when you have buddies to share in the indulgence.

Now that is one perfect day I would say. Two rhubarb deserts and pizza too ! Love, love rhubarb. My sister and I have a blue berry and rhubarb garden. Our two favorite fruits.

Sounds like you had a delicious afternoon. We stew the rhubarb(I use some sugar and some Splenda) and I add raspberries sometimes. Scoop the fruit over Vanilla yogurt, a great way to start the day.
Crisp, pie, cookies & pizza? Now that sounds like my kind of sewing day! And sharing it all with friends makes it perfect.

It sounds as if you had a wonderful day of sweets and sewing. We all need those kinds of days every once in awhile. I went to my favorite quilt store that is going out of business. Not too many fabrics left. 50% off is a good deal.
Strawberry rhubarb is a favorite summer treat - the sweet and the tart - yum! Sounds fun to eat, chat and sew.
Oh Wanda...you DO know how to live!! Rhubarb deserts twice in one day, with pizza and short bread cookies...I just love it!
