I don't know whether you will be able to see the difference in these 2 dark fabrics if you click to enlarge the photos. The one on the left is a patterned black batik and the one on the right is a dark purple mottled batik. I'm still looking for my black mottled batik. I didn't get any new blocks sewn. I worked in the basement while I did laundry and did some knitting. Then my friends from Montana stopped by. They are in town for their nephew's wedding this weekend. It was so good to see them. I gifted them the second quilt in this post. I knew I was giving it to them as I finished it and was glad I didn't have to mail it. It is more fun to gift them in person.

The colors in these blocks are ... exuberant! I am enjoying watching this quilt coming together. Wonderful pattern. Thanks for sharing ... :) Pat
I really need to get to Joann's and look for yarn. You make me jealous you are getting so many done. Chris
I have crocheted three dish cloths this week. I am using cotton yarn. Do you use only cotton yarn for yours? Why/why not?
I like the black on the left the best. You make me want to dig out my crochet needle.....never knitted and make some dish cloths!
The friends from Montana will enjoy the beautiful flannel quilt! Wonderful gift.
I like both the black and the purple.
LOVE your knitted dishcloths. I must try another pattern when I start my next dishcloth.
I was shopping for black fabric last weekend which I thought would be easy. My goodness, I didn't realize there were so many variations of black, (greenish black, bluish black, purplish black!!)
I have all my friends watching your progress with stepping stones. They have done this pattern but in batiks.
Thanks for posting your choices, I like the purple one on the right, I think the dots in the black one draw your eye to the sashing and away from the block interest. Just my own opinion!
That purple looks great!! I would not have thought of purple, but it is wonderful with it.
The purple one on the right stands out for me.
The two choices are so close , it's hard to choose. I might like the black but if I saw it for real, I might like the purple, so no help here.
What a lovely bunch of dishcloths you'll have!
I like both, but prefer the purple!
Nan
Love that bumpy dish cloth pattern. Does it have a name?
I have made about 6 dish cloths and love doing it! What book are you referring to? I like the Old Maid's puzzle design. I need to get more yarn.
