I added the dark strips on the right side and bottom and now this top is complete and will be a wallhanging.
I ended up with a lot of short ends from the strips when making the above quilt and its partner. I decided to go ahead and make more crooked cobblestone blocks with them instead of putting them away and getting them back out later when I would be making more blocks. There are over 20 in this pile.
This will be the center of the third quilt which I will be chain piecing with the second one as I finish it. Maybe on this one I will alternate light rounds and dark rounds for the target effect.
I've done a little catching up this morning....haven't read blogs all week. I love all the photos of your show and I'm sure that the students in your classes enjoyed themselves and learned lots. I am smiling to myself here because you took one day "off" after you got home and were back at the sewing machine! Love the new quilt tops...they will be pretty when finished.
I love that wall hanging -- looks like that's a new series in the making. You've inspired me to try making a quilt with strips using the sewing machine. There's a box full of wonky strips calling my name.

The dark strips definitely anchored the wall hanging. I just love it.
I also love your crooked cobblestones. Do you have a "method" for those? (sizes of strips, etc) Or do you just make them and then cut them to size?
I sense a new series of quilts evolving as we watch. These are wonderful!
Are you attempting to make this square as you sew? Or relying on trimming it as you go to ensure square-ness?

I do like the balance the darks give the quilt and the cobblestones are going to come in handy for that NEXT piece.

Fantastic quilt! The dark strips really did anchor the design.
I like the idea of using the leftovers immediately, while the enthusiasm is still fresh.
Always so much fun to check your daily blog and watch you at work. Yes I like the dark borders you added.
I do like the center block you have started, and will be anxious to see what you add.

I really like these new quilts. Will this be a series?
A new group of quilts. I love them. I always love your choice of fabrics. With this heat sewing is a great thing to do.
