Flowers and pie......

I finally went shopping for plants for my pots.  I didn't want to do them before I went to NC so I had to hope there would be some plants left.  This is my mirror image pots that go in front of my garage.

I bought some of the plants on Friday at a nursery and then on Sat. I found some at half price at Ace Hdwe.  I decided to fill every pot until I ran out of potting soil.
There are 3 pots that have Gerbera Daisies and they will be sitting out in my back garden for a little color.  It is going to take a long time to clear the weeds and create a sunny garden.
I have had hostas in pots on the porch since early May.  I had to move a few to make room for pots with flowers.
My cacti are on the 2 levels of the table and on the porch beside it.  I will keep moving them around so the same ones aren't in full sun every morning.  I used to have a tree shading the porch so I'll have to see how it goes this year.
I have placed a couple hostas in pots in bare spots to the left of the front porch.
I have a friend and neighbor that I share plants and fabric with and she wanted to know what she could give me.  She wondered if I would like some rhubarb.  I told her I'd like a strawberry rhubarb pie (wasn't that bold of me?), not knowing that her oven was not working.  Yesterday she baked one for her dad for Father's Day and one for me, and I think one for herself in her mother's oven.
It was still warm when she delivered it to me and this is what it looked like 5 minutes after she left.  Yum!!  It was SO good!!
I asked my sister-in-law if she could get her 2 grandsons to stop over at my house so I could give them graduation gifts.  They surprised me and came yesterday.  I gave them these quilts that I made last Dec.

I like rhubarb but hubby doesn't. Occasionally I will purchase some in the spring when they sell it in grocery stores here and make a rhubarb crisp - I tried to grow it and couldn't get it to grow well although some others in the area have had luck with it. It is so hot here my flower baskets look ok, but I wonder how long they will last I moved them to a different location when we got home yesterday.

Love all the plants around the yard. I love the look of the pie and used to love strawberry rhubarb pie, but developed an allergy to strawberries so enjoy some for me.

Your plants showed up just at the right time. We are working on putting a roof over our deck that gets full sun all the time (really hot in So AL) and when it is done I will have shade/sun for the first time and will be able to have plants that don't get burned the first day they are out. I am so excited.

I've never ever had rhubarb, for some reason I think I wuldn't like it but the pie looks yummy!

You have lots of flowering plants! When I was little and we'd visit my grandmother, she had so many plants in her front yard we used to think it was a jungle. We had so much fun hiding in all that greenery.

The flowers look beautiful. I hope they do well without the shade.

The pie looks delicious. What a nice neighbor.

I'll bet the graduation gifts were huge hits. What a sweet thought for them.

Oh, I saw the word PIE and I ran right over! YUM YUM!

Great flowers and perfect graduation quilts. Very 'manly' looking!

That pie looks amazing! We had the same thing last night, with vanilla ice cream all over it. YUM. The diet must wait until rhubarb season is behind us. Those are nice quilts you gave those boys, I hope they were tickled.

I just made strawberry rhubarb jam over the weekend...we are on the same wavelength! :) There's nothing better than a good fruit pie, is there? How nice that you have a neighbor that reciprocates in such a nice way when you share with her.

Glad you liked the pie, Wanda. :) You are always so generous with us all, a very small way to repay you. Pie is good for breakfast...ask how I know. Diet? What diet?

Rhubarb is another thing that doesn't grow well here. Matter of fact it's too hot here for a lot of things. That pie looks mighty good and so do all your pot plants. Pretty quilts for the boys, too. I'll bet they love them!
