A wonderful visit...........

A couple friends from the past came to my house to visit yesterday.  We pulled out quilts and fabric and talked and talked.  A great day!

Later in the day I started putting fabrics together.  I liked this Martha Negley and Philip Jacobs fabric together.
Then I added 2 Kaffe Fassett fabrics into the mix.  They are similar to the dull green in the Philip print.

Next I added a couple shot cotton solids and a Kaffe stripe.  I have a beige batik with little motifs that are a dull green in a few places.  I probably should have added it to the mix.

This is fun, but it is also procrastination.  I am so good at that.

Playing with fabric is more practice than procrastination in my opinion.

Not a better way to spend a day! What more could you ever want than friends and fabric???

Great combo! Thanks for taking the time to share it. I probably would not have gotten there. I tend to go the matchy-matchy route, which can compute to flat. Loved the color/print lesson.

I know what you mean. I seem to have the same problem.

Playing with fabric is more a part of the process than procrastination!! I love seeing the combinations you put together -- and those combinations look like the start of an interesting quilt.

I love that Philip Jacobs fabric! The Chrysanthemums are so this season. Auditioning fabric is not the same as procrastination. It is a vital part of making a quilt and you need to spend time on that.

While you could have said you were stimulating your creativity (which is likely true), from my own personal experience, I know when I'm doing that or when something else should be done and I'm procrastinating. However, I am glad you shared it with us. Such mouth-watering procrastination tactics are totally stimulating our creativity!!

Yes, but sometimes this is exactly what we need. Just a little play to give us some energy.

I'll take procrastination with you more than anybody else anytime (if you promise to pull out your fabric collection!) I LOVE that berry print too much.

Each piece of fabric compliments the other. Truly a beautiful combination of fabrics.

p.s. 25 degrees at 8 am today and it is to warm up to the high in the 60's.

One person's procrastination is another's perfection. How I would love to "procrastinate" at your house LOL!!! Those colors are so serene and wonderful. Can't wait to see this one - you are amazing!
