Half square triangle ruler

If you don't already have 2.5" strips you can use this ruler to cut them.

Then place the 2 fabrics (that you want to sew together) right sides together and place the triangle portion on top of them.

You will be able put your cutter into the little circular openings at the bottom of each triange and fully cut both sides.  The pieces between the triangles on the rulers are the same size so the triangles are being cut from both edges of the strip at the same time.  They are ready to take right to the machine and sew together.  Here is a link to the product's company webpage where you can click on the state you live in and see who sells them.  A lot of stores will probably just special order these since they are more of a specialty ruler. Here is another link where you can watch videos demonstrating some of them.  This company makes a lot of the standard size rulers that we all use too.

Oh to be the inventor of these rulers and gadgets. Think of the money they are making. This seems like it works well. Now don't put it up so you can't find it. LOL Chris

Thanks Wanda, I was thinking that you sewed the strips together first. Now I see why that wouldn't work.

Wow! What a great idea. I love the idea behind this ruler. I've steered clear of triangles for the most part because they involved buying triangles on a roll or some other "helper." It's great when someone dreams up something to make our lives easier and less frustrating.

Thank you, Wanda, for showing us how to cut the triangles. I had watched a video a few weeks ago and the demonstrator stopped right at the spot I needed to see the most! You've shown as a cool tool!

Thanks for the demo. Was it easy to get a true finished size? Have you tried out their Kaleidoscope Double-Strip ruler? Your Kaleidoscope Quilt is one of my favorites but I haven't made it yet.

I get it. I was wondering how that was going to work out.

Interesting gadget. I use the Easy Angle ruler which works in much the same way. I've got a whole bin full of HST triangle parts cut from my scraps just ready and waiting for use. They come in very handy.

Hi Wanda
Thanks for showing how that ruler works. I couldn't figure it out just by looking. I bet you're on your way with lots of half square triangles already cut and sewn!

This makes a lot of sense. Actually, your brief tutorial makes more sense than the demo I watched on their website! So, once again, thank you for demystifying a new tool. :-)
