Kaffe triangle quilt

This is where I am on the triangle quilt.  I have the blocks in the first 4 rows sewn together.  I wonder if I might want the dark in the center instead of light.  All I have to do is turn each block 1/2 turn and the center will be dark.  I may try that when all of the blocks are sewn.

I put my machine up on my cutting table so I could stand and sew since I need to be walking back and forth between the machine, design wall, and ironing board with each 2 triangles I take down.

I take 2 triangles down, go the the machine and sew them, walk back and take the next 2 triangles down, etc.

 I am chain piecing them.

Then I pile them in order on the machine table until I have all of the blocks in the row sewn, then take them one at a time to the ironing board and then straight over to the design wall.

I started sewing the blocks before I went to teach my class and did the rest while I watched the Olympics in the evening.  Class went well but nobody had any blocks done to take pictures of.  We meet again next Thurs. so I'll take pictures then.

I often stand and sew too. Much easier than getting up and down all the time.

Quilts looking great. I like it as is but I am sure you will play with the layout and maybe change your mind.

The quilt is looking fantastic! You do what I do, a lot of up and down. I find that peeling them off the design wall and sewing, then putting them back up helps to keep me more organized.

Standing up and sewing! I can't imagine! When I do something like this, I just jump and down all the time.

It's looking good, I like the light center, but the dark would probably look good too.

I never thought of standing to sew. I often do this method and end up with very sore knees...

The quilt is looking great! This looks like a project to take on with a friend tag team style. One person could do the sewing while the other goes back and forth to the ironing station, design wall and handing the sewer the sets of triangles.

it is looking great! It looks like you are really organized when you start the sewing.

I am trying to envision the dark in the middle. It looks great the way it is to me.

Absolutely lovely! I missed your blog for a few days (that darn pesky WORK) and I am amazed at how much you have done. Nice job.

did i miss this earlier?... how do you prevent stretching the bias diagonal as you sew?

Oh, how stunning that quilt is! Great idea to sew standing up -- I think. I have enough trouble with a sewing machine when I'm sitting down, can only imagine what a mess I'd make of it standing up! LOL

HMMMM. I like this quilt the way it is but if you put the dark in the center I'm going to like it that way too!
I have three days off after today and thought I'm going to catch up on my block of the month blocks...I figure if you can finish three quilts in five days, surely I can do 4 BLOCKS in three days. You think?!:)
Happy quilting & have a great weekend!

ahhh... so that's how you do it.

I can't do the back & forth thing, I just chain piece thing... more advanced 'designing' is just beyond me.

Standing and sewing sounds like a great idea. How do you use the foot pedal?
