Last January finish..........

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this little quilt.  It started out way back in March 2006 with a pile of batiks that weren't my favorites.  I decided to 'get rid' of them by cutting them into 4.5" squares and 2" finished triangles.  After sewing the triangle squares I started playing with the pieces on the design wall. The main stars in the long rows have 8 points alike on most of them.  The secondary stars are formed between them with multicolor points.  It is all made with 2 blocks, a square and a block made with 4 squares made of 2 triangles.  It had to be laid out on a design wall to get the 8 matching points in the right place but was sewn as rows of 4.5" units, not as star blocks.
A portion of this quilt was my header photo for several years.  I put on the triangle border in 2009 and now it is finally finished 10 years later.  I had intended it to be a wallhanging but I decided not to sew a hanging sleeve on as I was attaching the binding like I usually do.  If I add a sleeve it will be later since I want this to hang over the couch for awhile, maybe forever.

Yesterday was my 3333rd post since I started my blog in July 2007.

Really a neat looking quilt for fabrics you weren't really fond of. That many posts and I am sure you have many more waiting to be written. Congrats! Chris

It has turned out beautifully and well worth the wait, for sure. I think the marbled cream contrast fabric compliments the colour palette. I love the balance and the triangles are perfect.
I could do with a few hints and tips for "Stitch in the Ditch" before I start to do it on the quilt I am making. Can I ask please if you have a tutorial in your archives? I looked on the list on the sidebar but nothing pops up.

Beautiful quilt - the triangles, the background - everything is perfect for the stars.
I would like to "pin" this, but thought I'd ask you if you object. Sharron

I think it worked out to be a great little quilt. But I have to say, it is a rare batik that I don't like.

Outstanding! I would hang this one somewhere to always enjoy.
I had to look hard to see how you designed it as it blends so nicely. Then I realized, light bulb moment here, that my first baby quilt was made similarly. I used a square and a snowball block rather than your 4 unit of hsts. Your results are best, of course!
And I love your border that pulls it all together. Just a great wonderful quilt. congrats on the long blogging life!

I made this quilt pattern some years back - the same kind of stars but with an all white background without the border you have. Totally different look of course, I love yours with batiks. You have been blogging a long time - been following you since I started to blog almost a full 9 years now and you were doing it before me.

It always amazes me how often the projects that we start just to use up a couple of fabrics end up being favourites, even if it does take 10 years to finish them? Really lovely Wanda.

I love the triangle border, and the way a triangle is at each corner, The stars seem to float into the edge, all truly lovely.

Wow congratulations on all those posts! I'm a recent follower to your blog page and this is a gorgeous little quilt. I don't have many batiks but building up my stash at the moment - some are outside my comfort zone, but your quilt is very inspirational to get cutting and sewing.
Many thanks.

I really like the batik quilt. I have read and re-read your instructions and think I need to draw it out as you describe it to make sense to me. I have lots of scraps that would make it interesting.
